Teddi Mellencamp on Why She Was Fired, Plus RHOBH Star Addresses Backlash after Owning Her “Cellulite”

Teddi Mellencamp is opening up about new details regarding her firing from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The former actress, who possessed a RHOBH diamond for three seasons, is known for her bluntness – and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.

In an interview for Melissa Gorga’s “On Display” podcast, Teddi was asked why producers ultimately fired her.

“Well, I think my very first season, I started out — this is gonna sound, I’m just gonna be blunt with you, I’m gonna be completely honest — I didn’t have much money,” she said.

The star added, “I dressed differently. I did everything differently. I couldn’t get glammed, none of that stuff, because you know how much you get paid your first season as a Housewife.”

“Zero,” responded Melissa (who’s a current castmate on Real Housewives of New Jersey)

“Like barely anything,” added Teddi.

Melissa explained, “I’m just gonna say ‘zero’ because after you pay for your first outfit and your first round of hair and makeup…”

Eventually, the conversation headed toward the “cellulite” photo.

“You know when you’re on the red carpet and they’re like, ‘Give us the look-back shot’ … So there was a picture, and I have cellulite on the back of my legs,” she said. “I knew that before I left. It is what it is. And I had the choice. I could have gone on the face app or used Facetune and make it all smoothed out or do whatever, but I didn’t, and people started messaging me.”

According to Teddi, her critics said the following: “‘Why would you do that? … Why would you wear a dress that showed your cellulite? … I think it’s inappropriate that you did that … You have children … Aren’t you embarrassed…?'”

When Teddi publicly addressed it, fans “really came out” for her, saying “thank you for showing that, thank you for saying that.”

Unfortunately, it wasn’t all positive. “Now I’m getting [these] messages: ‘I wish you wouldn’t have said [anything] … You’re feeding the haters … You’re feeding the trolls whenever you make a comment like that.’ And truthfully for me, it’s not about that.”

Teddi continued, “If I’m noticing a trend in my DMs … then I will address it in a public stagnant post. And that’s not because I’m feeding the haters, it’s because I know this is obviously something we need to talk about. Because if this is so upsetting to you — that you’re seeing my cellulite — this needs to be a bigger conversation.”

Teddi’s podcast, “Two T’s In A Pod,” is one of the most popular in the Bravo world. On the show, she and her co-host Tamra Judge reveal the dirty truths of reality TV – while throwing shade at the villains.
