Summer House season nine has been pretty dynamic so far. This is due in part to Jesse Solomon, as he navigates his second season on the show as well as his interesting connection with newbie Lexi Wood. Now, he’s opening up about those love bombing accusations, his perceived jealousy, and much more in a new interview.
As fans of Summer House know, Jesse and Lexi formed an almost instant bond this season. However, this intense connection caused much friction between the newcomer and Ciara Miller over her flirty behavior with Jesse.
Recently, Jesse sat down for an interview on the Chicks in the Office podcast. One of the first things they asked concerned his emotions around watching this season back versus the first.
“Yeah, emotions are good, thanks. I would say last season, when you don’t really have that strong foundation with everybody in the house, it’s harder to be completely yourself. Like, you can’t show everyone how weird you are if you’re like not close with them. Yeah, so it wasn’t until like the end of the summer that I was like really comfortable,” Jesse responded.
He continued, “This summer, I mean, like, dating gets a lot of attention, especially if it’s like two people in the house. And so it felt how it feels watching the show back. Like, the first few weekends, everybody was asking Lexi and me what’s going on, it’s just like pretty intense, but uh yeah, it’s good.”
The hosts of the podcast then brought up how the internet calls Jesse a love bomber.
“Listen, the people are saying I came on strong, but I think Lexi matched my energy,” he admitted. “When you’re going for a girl who’s, like, dated Drake, you’re not going to, like, get her by playing it cool. Like, my style is aggressive, and like, I’m not going to be anybody but myself. So watching it back, like yeah, I guess I was love bombing, but I’m, like, learning about love bombing now. So yeah, I’m trying to, like, be better the next time around.”
From there, they brought up Jesse seemingly getting jealous of Lexi and West Wilson. However, according to him, “Incorrect. Absolutely not, I was excited that Lexi was flirting with West because anything that I had been doing with Ciara the weekend prior, I was like, ‘Oh, it was apples to apples. Like, you’re flirting with West, I’m flirting with Ciara. It’s all fluid. We’re one big happy family. We can all flirt with each other.’ And she took it as, like, me being jealous, and she’s making me out to be this jealous type, where that’s just not how I felt.”
The hosts then asked Jesse if he felt that he was ready for a relationship. He said, “No, I still am open to it with the right person. Like, clearly, when I fall, I fall hard. So I’m open to it, but I’m not looking for it. But, yeah, I think I’m going to go in, like, trying to be single this summer, but, like, I’m not going to fight it.”
They then asked if he’s nervous or excited about the reunion. He explained his feelings by saying, “I’m excited for it to be done. Yeah, I mean, I just need to think about what I want to say. It’s just, like, a 12-hour shoot.”
Moving on from the reunion and going into season 10, Jesse revealed that they are currently casting, and potential cast members that production has talked to have reached out to him.
When asked what he wants from any new cast members, Jesse said, “Just fun-loving people who want to go out, I would say, would be fun. It’s hard to find people that are, like, willing to be themselves on camera and are deeper than just like, ‘I like to have fun and go to the Hamptons.'”
During the interview, Jesse also teased new music. He said he has a new single coming out on May 1. Additionally, he revealed that his biggest misconception about the show was that he thought the cast stayed at the house during the week when they weren’t filming.
