Amanda Batula is speaking out against Craig Conover in light of his recent split from Paige DeSorbo.
During a couple of joint interviews with husband Kyle Cooke, 42, the Summer House cast member, 33, has thrown some shade at the 35-year-old Southern Charm star, particularly in regard to his claim of being “very shocked” by the “unexpected” split — and his failure to speak out in support of Paige, 32, amid swirling rumors that she may have cheated.
“Paige was nothing but kind with her words and Craig just sent the dogs after her. To not clear up any of the cheating rumors is insanity. Insanity. That was still your girlfriend for three years. Stand up for her a little bit. He’s been silent,” Amanda told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea on February 2.
According to Amanda, who mocked Craig’s Raya profile, telling his potential suitors, “Good luck,” Craig telling his Instagram followers that he was not expecting to split from Paige “was ridiculous.”
“I know there were multiple conversations had,” she shared as Kyle confirmed the same.
“The summer prior, Craig and I were talking and he was like, ‘I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t make it,'” he recalled.
Meanwhile, during another interview, with Us Weekly, Amanda said she was “surprised” to hear about Paige and Craig’s breakup, but “not shocked.”
“When I did get the text from her, I was like, ‘What happened? Are you OK? Is everything OK?’” she revealed, admitting that when she got Paige’s text about “top secret information,” she initially thought it “was maybe going to be an engagement.”
“I’m sure we will all watch it sort of possibly unfold, but she’ll definitely speak more to it at some point,” she continued, again shading Craig for his handling of the end of his romance with Paige.
“I think it’s a little ridiculous. I think Craig likes the sympathy from everyone and ultimately, I think what he should have done was clear up the cheating rumors in some regards because she’s really getting a lot of hate and a lot of hate for that,” she explained. “They had such a long relationship with such history together. You don’t want to piss someone off with the Instagram. We’ll see. She’s keeping busy. She has her tour. She’s always filming something or taking photographs or something. She is busy. Her mind is occupied.”
As for Kyle, he said he was hopeful that Craig and Paige “might go the distance.”
“I was rooting for them,” he shared. “But ultimately, I think they both kind of kept the relationship pretty close to the chest. I don’t know if there are little red flags on Southern Charm, but I think for the first time ever in the three years that they were dating, she kind of confided in me about some of the challenges they were having. That was a first. I was like, ‘Oh, interesting.’ I always thought it was just rainbows and butterflies.”
All in all, Kyle believes Paige is handling the split just fine.
“I listened to her whole podcast and I was like, ‘Wow. She handled that with compassion and grace’ and I think I felt like there were a couple of things that he said that were clearly trying to tilt the scale a little bit, if you catch my drift,” he hinted. “So I don’t know.”
Summer House season nine premieres Wednesday, February 12, at 9/8c on Bravo.
