West Wilson has a hot take on a popular summer food staple.

“You shouldn't put ketchup on a hot dog,” the Summer House cast member tells PEOPLE. “I find it to be very juvenile. A classy person sticks with mustard.”

“I'll do it if someone puts it on,” he adds. “I'm not going to be like, ‘No.’ I don't think it's bad, but I think the classy way to go about eating a hot dog is mustard and sometimes even mayo and you can do spicy.”

However, Wilson admits that if he’s going all out with condiments, then ketchup can be part of the mix.

“If we're dressing it up, we're going to do mustard, mayo, then we can put ketchup on, onions, sauerkraut, and peppers,” he explains.

Lindsay Hubbard, who costars with Wilson in a new campaign for Hellmann’s, said she puts “everything” on her hot dogs.

“That's good. I like that,” Wilson says, but adds, “If I'm at a baseball game and I just see ketchup on your dog, you're a child."

Reflecting on their other controversial food preferences, Hubbard reveals, “I don't like olives and I wish I did. It bothers me, actually.”

West then weighed in on how his Missouri upbringing has shaped his culinary tastes while living in New York.

“I don't want get regional and hurt people's feelings,” he says. “New York barbecue's bad. I don't want to say that. It's not the same. I would never order barbecue in New York City. You have to go home.”

“I think the sushi restaurants in my hometown are just as good as New York,” he insists. “Dunk it in spicy mayo, and you wouldn't know the difference.”

The pair’s new ad for Hellmann’s, released on June 24, sees them arguing over the merits of mayo.

“Have you been talking s--- about mayo?” Wilson asks Hubbard in the playful video, referring to a clip in which she announces, “Mayo is such trash.”

Hubbard initially claims that mayo “literally ruins every sandwich,” to which Wilson replies, “Lindsay, it’s not just mayo. It’s Hellmann’s spicy mayo.”

“I think for me the biggest thing is, I’m a Missouri boy,” Wilson shares. “We put mayo on everything. We brush our teeth with mayo.”

After taking a bite of West’s sandwich, Hubbard finally changes her mind, admitting, “This is really good.”

Hubbard and West agree that food is a key ingredient in their Bravo series, which has followed a rotating cast of Hamptons housemates since 2017 and wrapped its ninth season in June.

“I mean, it's like any share house, right?” Hubbard said. “Like food and the kitchen, they're just an integral part of how you interact with each other. Especially in a summer house, I think we always congregate around the kitchen island. We're always sitting at the dining table. Someone's always in the kitchen doing something, so it really does kind of play a big part to our show.”
