Carl Radke praised Paige DeSorbo for how she handled her breakup with Craig Conover. The ”Summer House” star spoke out on the February 5 episode of the “Viall Files” to commend his co-star for the way she announced the breakup on her podcast in December, one month after her split from her boyfriend of three years.
“I’m a Paige guy,” Radke admitted to podcast host Nick Viall. “It’s been interesting to kind of see everything unfold in the media as it did. I mean I give her props for the way she handled doing it on ‘Giggly Squad.’ And there’s no easy way to do any of that and in the public eye. I texted her the day I learned, and I said ‘I give you, you know, a lot of credit for just stepping up and doing that.’ And I said if there’s paparazzi outside your door then [expletive] them!”
“It’s like, it’s such a difficult thing to break up, like, in that manner. Like she’s on a podcast, she’s telling, and I get he wants to share his side,” Radke said.
On December 30, 2024, DeSorbo announced the breakup on her “Giggly Squad” podcast. “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,” she said. “I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want. … I think it is the right decision for both of us.”
Carl Radke Thinks Paige Desorbo Helped Craig Conover Become a ‘Better Version of Himself’
Conover changed a lot during his 10 seasons on Bravo’s “Southern Charm.” Fans saw him ditch his partying ways to become a successful businessman. He was also vocal about his readiness for marriage and kids.
On the podcast, Radke admitted that he worried that DeSorbo and Conover’s future goals were not aligned. “I did worry that the distance and where they were career-wise was maybe not in line,” he shared. “Craig was ready to settle down, but Paige is young.”
Radke noted that he’s always had “personal opinions” about Conover and saw a new side of him last summer. “This past summer we filmed with Craig in the Hamptons,” Radke said, noting that Conover did not drink alcohol at all during filming. “But almost what I uncovered, it was like, his behavior at that period of time was not great at all. That Paige was like, ‘I can’t be with you if you’re going to be like this,’ you know. And I know she dealt with a lot of his ups and downs and challenges through that. And I feel like that got kind of lost in the shuffle.”
“Like, it was Paige was hard on Craig and mean to him. And it’s like no, Paige was actually very gracious, and I think helped Craig become a better version of himself,” Radke said. “And almost the version you’re seeing on this season of ‘Southern Charm,’ which is like the business Craig, and he’s like serious and focused and like, yeah that’s cool to see.”
Fans saw DeSorbo give Conover career advice during the 10th season of “Southern Charm.” In the episode “Making a Splash,” she advised her then-boyfriend to end the “Pillows and Beer” podcast he co-hosted with his friend Austen Kroll and launch a podcast on his own. She even came up with a title: “Craig and Friends.”
Carl Radke Briefly ‘Dated’ Paige DeSorbo in 2018
Radke noted that he is closer friends with DeSorbo than he is with Conover. Not only are they castmates on “Summer House,” but they had a brief romance during an earlier season of the show. Radke’s first date with DeSorbo was a breakfast date in New York City , as seen on “Summer House” season 3.
Radke recalled his brief romance with DeSorbo while filming the summertime reality show in 2018. “She was very attractive, had a cool personality and just something about her,” Radke told Viall. ‘But that summer, I mean I was total [expletive] boy mode, was saying one thing and doing the other. The whole narrative of that season was that I didn’t text her during the week. … It was clear early on that we were probably just better being friends.”
“I don’t think Paige would ever go for me or vice versa anymore but I’m just a huge supporter,” the “Summe House” star added.
