Strictly's JB Gill takes over from pal Sam Thompson on Hits Radio as the King of the Jungle jets off to Australia for I'm A Celebrity -suong

Strictly Come Dancing's JB Gill has announced he is taking over from Sam Thompson on Hits Radio.

The former JLS member, 37,  took to Instagram to share the news that he would be covering the station's UK Chart show and revealed he was excited to start.

The current Strictly contestant shared several snaps of himself in the radio studio wearing a pair of jeans and a white and blue statement denim jacket as he sat behind the mic.

Captioning his Instagram post the singer told his fans he was 'no stranger to the chart's and was excited to host the show.

He captioned the snaps: 'I’m SO excited to be joining the @hitsradiouk family covering the Hits UK Chart show for my boy @samthompsonuk while he’s down under for @imacelebrity ! Strictly Come Dancing's JB Gill, 37, has announced he is taking over from Sam Thompson on Hits Radio

'I’m no stranger to the charts but I can’t wait to count down the week’s hottest hits as chosen by YOU and playing that all-important number one so be sure to join me @hitsradiouk from this Sunday 17th November at 4pm to countdown the UK’s biggest hits!!'

The star will have to juggle his dancing and DJing commitments for the next few weeks as the hit BBC show is not set to end until Christmas.

JB is seemingly taking inspiration from his former bandmate Marvin Humes who is also a DJ on Kiss Radio, hosting the show from 11am and leading the radio's               KISSTORY show.

JB's new gig comes as Sam flies down under to join the presenting team for I'm A Celebrity Unpacked.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 32, won the reality show in 2023 and is back alongside Joel Dommett and Kemi Rogers to present the show.

The spin-off programme will be filmed in UK time meaning he will be going to bed at 4pm and waking up at midnight to start work.

The reality star recently revealed that he had to rush to hospital before he flew out to start filming to request some sleeping pills to aid the chaotic scheduling due to the time difference between Australia and the UK.

Speaking on his podcast Staying Relevant with Pete Wicks, Sam explained: 'The timings are quite awkward because obviously we are live in UK time. So we go to bed at 4pm every day in Australia and wake up at midnight. Which is going to be wild.'

Pete added: 'You don't cope well with change and what Sam said to me when he told me this last week is "I've just been to the doctor and I've got 24 sleeping pills".'

He continued: 'That was the first thing you did, he literally came out of the meeting with ITV or off the phone and went straight to the doctor and said "I need pills".'

Sam was the fan favourite last year with his boundless energy and while he would not confirm when he had landed his 'dream' presenting gig, it is believed ITV bosses signed him up shortly after victory.

He arrived at Brisbane Airport on Sunday with his co-hosts Joel and Kemi after his flight was almost diverted to Sydney due to a horrendous thunderstorm threatening the safety of their landing.

Revealing what he would do with his time in Australia, Sam said: 'I'm just going to be trying to get to know Joel as best as I can while I'm out here so that he becomes my brother.

'Definitely trying to track down Ant and Dec, seeing where they're staying seeing if I can hang out with them. Try and make best friends for life.'

Meanwhile Sam revealed Pete is likely to travel to Australia for I'm A Celeb if he's booted off Strictly Come Dancing in the coming weeks.

The TOWIE star, 36, has every reason for a trip Down Under to visit Sam while his partner Maura Higgins, 33, is also tipped to head into the Jungle.
