Deion Sanders’ remarkable success at the University of Colorado has fueled growing speculation about a potential leap to the NFL. Many wonder if Coach Prime might leave behind the program he revitalized with the Buffaloes for a dramatic return to professional football—possibly as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, the legendary franchise he once called home.
In a recent episode of First Take, Stephen A. Smith boldly admitted the new Deion Sanders era and its potential complications for the franchise. Smith, who has been a staunch critic of Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, admitted that Sanders could take the Cowboys to the conference championship game.
Smith claims that he believes Sanders, having experience playing under Jerry Jones, will be able to navigate the coaching without being fazed by Jones’ micromanagement.
In a previous episode of First Take, Stephen A. Smith commented on the growing buzz surrounding Deion Sanders’s potential appointment after Mike McCarthy’s exit. Smith detailed why such a move would be a perfect fit, highlighting its advantages and overall appeal.
He also shared why Sanders wouldn’t likely pursue the chance to coach his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, in the NFL. However, Smith confidently declared that if Jerry Jones extended the offer, there was no question that Coach Prime would accept the role.
Drew Pearson admits that Deion Sanders should be the Cowboys’ No. 1 choice
Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Cowboys star Drew Pearson has joined the growing chorus of support for Deion Sanders. Pearson endorsed the idea of Coach Prime returning to the NFL to lead the very team with which he won a Super Bowl in the 1990s.

In an interview with TMZ, Pearson admitted that Deion Sanders has worked his way through the ranks and possesses the qualifications to be the Head coach of a major football powerhouse.
Despite strong rumors, in his latest phone call with ESPN, Sanders maintained that he is too loyal to the Buffaloes whom he rejuvenated from a 4-win season to nine wins in 2024. Only time will tell where one will find Sanders and who will replace Deion Sanders in Boulder if he entertains this hypothetical idea.
