Southern Charm newcomer Molly O'Connell just revealed she helped treat her 'deep depression and anxiety' as well as her complex PTSD with ketamine infusion therapy, which 'completely changed my life.'
The Schedule III substance was approved by the FDA in the 1970s for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia, but it remains a costly out-of-pocket alternative for mental health treatment.
'I got in a real rut and I couldn't get out of bed,' the 37-year-old model-musician told The LadyGang Podcast on Tuesday.
'I wasn't showering for long periods of time. I wouldn't leave my house, I would just order DoorDash. I wouldn't do anything, wouldn't let anybody come over. And I wasn't in a place where I could even do the therapy I needed to get better.'
Molly - who was runner-up on the 16th season of America's Next Top Model - discovered the benefits of ketamine through a 2023 Instagram post by ANTM: All Stars winner Lisa D'Amato.
'Lisa posted how it changed her life and I messaged her,' O'Connell recalled.

'She told me about it. So had she not posted that publicly, I wouldn't have known to do that.'
During her first ketamine infusion therapy session, the euphonium player realized that she could not let her anxiety drive her to quit her passion for music.
'It was just ridiculous,' Molly scoffed.
'I shouldn't have needed ketamine to have that realization, but it just kind of hit me like a ton of bricks like, "What are you doing?"''
O'Connell continued: 'So then I was able to kind of get out of that rut enough to do the hard work that I needed to do and start DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) which I got diagnosed with CPSTC a few years ago. Complex PTSD is multiple, lots of traumas.'
The South Carolina native's past traumas include being adopted, her brother's death when she was six, three other family members' death within five months after that, the modeling industry, society in general, and ex-boyfriends.
Molly also admitted to struggling with her fluctuating weight, which has led to her losing jobs.
'Most of the stuff I do, you need to be a certain size. I do a lot of e-commerce and that's just how it is [now],' O'Connell said.
'I've lost those jobs and weight is a part of that. It affects a lot of parts of my life, and I've got a lot of shame around it because of just society and the modeling industry and the toxicity of all that.'
