Southern Charm's Cameran Eubanks Says Jason Isaacs' White Lotus Accent Sounds Like This Former Castmate - lulu

Cameran Eubanks is weighing in on the connection between The White Lotus and Southern Charm.

The Bravo alum, 41, took to her Instagram Stories on Monday, Feb. 24, to respond to PEOPLE’s recent exclusive about how Southern Charm inspired the Ratliff family in season 3 of the hit HBO series. Eubanks first posted a screenshot of the article with several casket emojis on the screen, before offering her opinion on what reality star Jason Isaacs’ White Lotus character sounded most like.

“Many of yall are echoing what I thought as soon as I heard the dad speak. ‘Damn, he sounds like Thomas Ravenel!’” she wrote. “That dialect is NOT North Carolina. It’s old Charleston.”

She later explained her knowledge of Southern accents: “Lots of messages asking what the difference is between a Charleston accent and the Old Charleston accent.”

“Well, there really is no such thing as current Charleston dialect because now more Northerners live here than Southerners 🤣BUT the old Charleston English is still clinging on to a few,” she continued. “I’ll put the Wikipedia definition on the next page.”

“Also, fun fact- Thomas was the ONLY original cast member who was born and bred in Charleson,” Eubanks added. “I am from the upstate of South Carolina and our dialect is a lot more twangy and less refined 😜”

She followed up her posts with specific guidelines of what makes a true Charleston accent, such as “R-dropping” and adding an “intrusive y into the ar sound.”

Earlier this month, Sam Nivola, who plays Lochlan Ratliff on the current season of The White Lotus, told PEOPLE that the show’s creator Mike White asked him and his costars to watch the Bravo reality show before filming kicked off in Thailand.

“Mike told us to go watch Southern Charm,” the 21-year-old actor shared of the series. “In fact, Jason Isaacs, who played our dad, kind of modeled his whole accent and character off of [that cast].”

Nivola proceeded to poke fun at his on-screen sister, Sarah Catherine Hook, who didn’t have to participate in the pre-production homework because she “had it down” already after being raised in the South.

“I'm from Alabama,” she noted. “I found out through you guys. I was like, ‘He didn't tell me to watch Southern Charm! I'm feeling left out.’”

The Ratliff family consists of Nivola, Hook and Patrick Schwarzenegger and their wealthy Southern parents, played by Isaacs and Parker Posey.

From the start of the first episode, the five clashed over the lack of cell service and the abundance of quality time they’d be spending at the wellness resort. The unique dynamic only grows more complex when Isaacs’ patriarch of the family finds out that he might have lost all his money and tries not to let the news spread.
