Nearly a month after calling for the dismissal of Mike McCarthy from the Dallas Cowboys, Skip Bayless is back with a new name to replace the head coach. Amid the growing frustration with McCarthy’s leadership, the Cowboys biggest fanatic expressed his desire to have the former defensive coordinator back in the team, but this time as head coach.
With a bizarre 3-6 season record, the Cowboys are going through one of their worst seasons in a long time, making it really hard for them to even qualify for the playoffs. And with star quarterback Dak Prescott enlisted on the injury reserve for the remaining season, the last hopes appear to be disappearing.
While owner Jerry Jones has been insistent on not firing McCarthy midseason, sports analysts have been recommending prominent names to replace him next season if the Cowboys front officially does not repeat the mistakes of 2024. In a recent post on X, Bayless too joined in by advocating former DC Dan Quinn to replace McCarthy and take over Dallas next season.
“Man, do I ever wish Dan Quinn were the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys,” wrote Bayless, throwing shade at McCarthy’s leadership in Cowboys.
While the America’s Team is struggling immensely on the field, the Washington Commanders—led by Quinn, who joined as head coach this season—are having their best season in a long time. Their 7-4 record places them above the Cowboys in the NFC East standings.

Since joining the Commanders, Quinn has truly reinvented himself by looking back at his mistakes from his time with the Atlanta Falcons. Joining the Cowboys back in 2021 was a demotion for Quinn after leading the Falcons as head coach for five years. He would have stayed in Dallas, but he believed he had become a better version of himself, prompting him to join Washington as head coach again.

He indeed was right! Since he departed from the Falcons, Quinn has analyzed himself extensively to pinpoint areas for improvement. He worked on delegating tasks more efficiently, enhancing the development of his coaching staff, and ensuring a proper succession plan for key assistants when they leave for better opportunities.
