Below Deck alumni Kate Chastain was once firmly in the camp of Captain Lee Rosbach, who she worked with on the series for years, but she may have moved to support Captain Sandy Yawn after the two captains feud. Kate worked as the Chief Stew aboard Captain Lee’s Below Deck vessel for six seasons, which cemented her as a major player on the crew. While Kate and Captain Lee were different in their approaches to the crew, it was clear that the pair had a rapport in their work and understood how to handle each other’s styles aboard any superyacht.

Kate and Captain Lee’s relationship was something that Below Deck viewers found themselves invested in, as the older Captain had a seemingly parental relationship with Kate throughout their years working together. The duo paired up for Bravo content after Kate left the series, but it became clear in recent years that they may not be as close as they were in the past. Kate’s relationship with Captain Sandy, featured on Below Deck Mediterranean, however, was growing stronger as the pair got to know each other through franchise events. Now, with the two captains feuding, Kate may have chosen a side.

Throughout the years, Kate and Captain Lee’s relationship has been something Bravo viewers have relished in watching flourish. While Kate, who’s several decades younger than Captain Lee, was a competent Chief Stew, her rapport with Captain Lee was an add-on to the wonderful job she was doing. Captain Lee had a major sense of respect for Kate, who was happy to be working with someone who was a no-nonsense professional.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Kate and Captain Lee worked together for six seasons of Below Deck, and then went on to continue staying present in each other’s lives. After Kate left the show, she and Captain Lee went on to host Below Deck related content for Bravo, talking about the series and their own experiences from the past together on screen. While Captain Lee left the show himself after Below Deck season 10, things were still decent between the former colleagues.

Although Kate and Captain Sandy haven’t worked together professionally on a Below Deck series, they’ve been growing closer in the years that they’ve both been part of the franchise. Captain Sandy, who’s been a part of the franchise since Below Deck Mediterranean season 2, has gotten to know Kate over the years and has found a friendship with the former Chief Stew. Kate was in attendance along with her fellow Chief Stew Aesha Scott at Captain Sandy’s wedding to Leah Shafer, and the pair spent time together at a recent Bravo FanFest. Their connection has been a unique, sweet bond.

She May Be Choosing Captain Sandy

Although Kate hasn’t said anything formally about her relationship with Captain Lee coming to an end, the pair haven’t been working together professionally for quite some time and haven’t mentioned one another in a public setting. Instead, Kate has been closer with Captain Sandy, who Lee has a notable feud with, and even unfollowed Captain Lee on social media. With Kate’s recent affinity toward Captain Sandy and the choice to unfollow him online, it’s possible the Below Deck alumni has made the decision to cut ties with her former Captain. Kate may be fully in the camp of Captain Sandy.
