Shep's Surprising Apology to Taylor Over Sienna: Unpacking the Drama of 'Petty and Stupid' - lulu

Southern Charm’s Shep Rose is serving apologies in the first part of the Season 10 reunion.

A recent teaser touches on the bachelorette’s fizzled romance with former Miss Bahamas Sienna Evans, an inevitable subject for those in attendance. Throughout the season, some — namely Shep — found it difficult to discuss the new relationship without comparing it to Shep’s two-year courtship with Taylor Ann Green.

It didn’t go unnoticed by Austen Kroll, as seen in the video clip, which you can watch above.

“I think, for me, it was pretty obvious he missed what he had with Taylor,” said the Trop Hop beer brand owner. “He was a best version of himself when he was with her.”

When asked by reunion host Andy Cohen, Taylor said she “honestly” wasn’t uncomfortable with the topic, but it didn’t stop Shep from apologizing about one thing in particular.

Why did Shep apologize to Taylor?

As noted by the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host, Shep caught a lot of flack online for comparing his relationship with Sienna to his former one with Taylor. In one flashback from Season 10, Shep told Southern Charm producers, “I do think Sienna’s very smart and driven and independent. She’s a lot of things that Taylor wasn’t as far as just having your own thing going on and being, like, a big baller a little bit.”

In hindsight, Shep learned his mistakes.

“I apologize to Taylor,” Shep said in the reunion clip. “That’s uncool. I don’t know why I said that. It was kind of petty and stupid, and I apologize.”

Taylor told Shep, “It’s OK,” and thanked him for his apology.

Shep Rose regrets dating comment

It’s not the first time Shep put his foot in his mouth. In Season 2, back in 2014, Shep declared he would not be a man in his mid-40s “trying to hook up with girls in their 20s.”

Leva Bonaparte spoke for some at the reunion when saying, “That didn’t age well,” considering Shep is 44 and Sienna was 18 years his junior.

Just one more thing Shep wished he hadn’t said.

“I probably said a lot of things I would take back,” he lightheartedly confessed.

However, on the topic of age differences in relationships, Shep had a theory: “By the way, Andy, can we talk for a second about this? The phenomenon of younger girls wanting older guys,” he said. “It’s happening.”

Freshman cast member Molly O’Connell agreed, “It’s a thing,” while Salley Carson admitted she was in the camp of women who liked dating older men.

Is Shep dating someone new?

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Teddi Mellencamp recently detailed a sit-down dinner she and Shep had in which the former Housewife warned her childhood friend against whisking younger women away on trips and love-bombing them (as he had with Sienna, she felt). But based on what Teddi told The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge on their shared Two T’s in a Pod podcast, Shep was already making plans with someone “significantly younger.”
