The Southern Charm cast recently wrapped filming for season 11 of the hit show, which means it’s mere months away from airing on Bravo. Now, Shep Rose is opening up about his reaction to Kathryn Dennis‘ controversial social media post, where he stands with Craig Conover, and more in a new interview.
Regarding Shep responding to Kathryn, the former Southern Charm star recently posted on her Instagram story and seemingly accused Salley Carson of mimicking her life. Kathryn accused her of dying her hair the same color as hers and buying the exact vehicle she has.
Shep interviewed with Decider, and one of the most notable topics to come up was his take on the Instagram post from Kathryn. He said, “I didn’t like what I saw. It looked like she wasn’t in a good state of mind. I can’t speak to that, though. I wasn’t there.”
Shep continued, “I’m not quite sure I followed her line of thinking, but I did detect Salley was implicated. I don’t understand the connection all that much. I don’t know if Salley even really knows Kathryn, or how Kathryn knows anything about Salley. It’s news to me.”
Still, he showed sympathy for Kathryn, saying, “Man, I wish her the best. It’s so sad sometimes—I’m sure it is, I can’t speak from experience—when you’re in a custody situation. I just can’t imagine the anguish that occurs. So I feel for her.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Shep discussed Southern Charm as a whole. When asked if he ever expected the show to go as far as it has, he responded, “No, I didn’t expect anything. I think part of the reason this show was successful in those first several years was none of us knew what the hell we were doing.”
Shep continued, “We weren’t entertainers. We weren’t trying to, you know, a little bit like the Vanderpump crew, like they were trying to be actors in LA. So, they probably had a clearer vision than ours, but I think that’s why it worked so well for us. Just because you could tell we were green, so to speak, and I love those early years because of that.”
He then discussed why people like the show and how they like to see the “ebbs and flows,” and then said, “For example, this new season, I’m excited to watch it. There are several conversations that I want to know what he or she said. I really wanna hear it because I think it was a very good season. I’m not just saying that.”
Shep went on to say that “everyone agrees” that Southern Charm season 11 “had a lot of meat on the bones.” He was then asked if he would have a love interest on the show this season, and he stated that he would not. Additionally, he’s writing a new book.
Later in the interview, Shep was asked about his dynamic with Craig in the upcoming season of the show and if he hung out with the guys more this time around. According to him, “Yeah, Craig’s awesome. You know, he and I are in; we sort of just decided to put our swords down. It was like, we’re never going to see eye to eye on anything, but there are certain things that we really enjoy about each other.”
He went on, “I try to be someone he can talk to and confide in, and we do a little bit of that. Yeah, Craig is from another galaxy than I am, so we just understand that and we just live with it and try to celebrate the fun times we have, but Craig is phenomenal this season.”
Shep also spoke about Jarrett “JT” Thomas and how they have a decent relationship with each other. Shep also stated that he ran into JT during filming for season 11. Shep also reiterated that JT won’t be a part of the new season in any capacity.
