Gabriel and Sanders will receive opportunities to earn a roster spot and potentially compete for the starting gig. With Deshaun Watson's status for the upcoming season in question, Cleveland has stocked up on quarterbacks, also acquiring Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in the offseason and signing Joe Flacco before the draft.

Though he is the most experienced of the bunch, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox predicts the Browns will cut Flacco after the selections of Gabriel and Sanders.
"The Cleveland Browns brought back Joe Flacco as their veteran insurance quarterback for the 2025 season. However, there's a chance that he could be the odd signal-caller out by late August. The Browns probably won't carry four quarterbacks into the regular season, and the 40-year-old Flacco simply doesn't carry long-term value," Knox writes.
If Cleveland wants to be somewhat competitive in 2025, cutting Flacco would be a foolish move, as he has a ton of starting experience and still has a little gas left in the tank. However, the Browns don't have a feasible path to the playoffs this season, so cutting the 40-year-old and giving opportunities to the younger players, such as Gabriel and Sanders, would be a logical plan of action.
Cleveland is rebuilding, so keeping an aging quarterback in his final years doesn't make much sense. The franchise is better off seeing if Gabriel and Sanders can be the long-term answer at quarterback rather than holding Flacco on the roster.
