Shedeur Sanders' Opinion of Deion Sanders-Cowboys Rumors Made Perfectly Clear

The Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing 2024 NFL season with a 7-10 record. Of course, they missed the playoffs. As such, speculation around their next head coach is heating up.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has emerged as a strong candidate to replace Mike McCarthy. Even Coach Prime's own son, Shedeur Sanders, weighed in during his “2Legendary” podcast, as posted by the official Overtime X account.

“It's a decision on him," Shedeur Sanders said when asked about whether it'd be cool for his dad to coach the Cowboys. "It's not really up to me. I don't really have a say-so in anything at all."

Remember that the Cowboys' struggles in 2024 have placed owner Jerry Jones under pressure to make significant changes, with many fans calling for a fresh direction. Reports also suggest that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer could also be in contention.

That said, the allure of Hall of Famer and Cowboys legend Deion Sanders looms large. Known for his charisma and transformative leadership, Coach Prime has turned struggling programs into winners.

This includes his recent success at Colorado, where he led the Buffaloes to a 9-4 season and oversaw a Heisman-winning campaign for two-way star Travis Hunter.

For his part, Shedeur Sanders was Colorado's star quarterback and is a projected top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders talk with the media after the game against the Brigham Young Cougars.

Shedeur Sanders addressed the speculation about his father coaching the Cowboys with a clear deference to Deion Sanders' decision. While Shedeur Sanders' focus remains on his own bright future, his comments highlight the family’s alignment on letting Coach Prime choose his next steps.

If Deion Sanders were to take the reins in Dallas, it would mark his first foray into the NFL coaching ranks. The move would not only energize a passionate Cowboys fan base but also bring him back to "America's Team," where he cemented his legacy as a player.
