The knives are out – and this time, it’s not about fashion. Nicola Peltz Beckham, heiress, actress, and self-styled "Brooklyn’s ride-or-die", has once again found herself at the centre of an icy storm. But this time, it's not just the tabloids or internet sleuths whispering discontent – it's close friends of David and Victoria Beckham who are breaking their silence, furious over what they see as Nicola’s “disrespectful, entitled and ungracious” behaviour behind closed doors.
It all came to a head after reports surfaced earlier this month suggesting Victoria and David were "tight" – in other words, stingy – during a family gathering at their lavish Miami estate. The whispers seemed to come from someone within Team Peltz. But for the Beckham camp, it was the final straw in what they describe as “a pattern of passive-aggressive digs, played out publicly, masked as innocence.”
According to a source who spoke exclusively to The Mail on Sunday, “This narrative that Victoria is the evil mother-in-law and Nicola the poor, misunderstood outsider is absolute nonsense. Nicola is used to getting everything she wants, instantly. But the Beckhams are old-school – you earn your place, you don’t demand it.”
Friends of the Beckham family allege that the “tight” accusation was not only inaccurate but “deeply offensive,” especially to David, who is known to be generous to a fault with both his time and money. “David was fuming,” said one insider. “He pays for flights, staff, even threw that massive welcome party in Palm Beach for them after the wedding – how is that being tight?”
This is far from the first time tensions have spilled beyond the manicured hedges of their multimillion-dollar lives. Since Nicola and Brooklyn’s splashy wedding in 2022 – where she reportedly refused to wear a Victoria Beckham dress and insisted on her own family taking creative control – relations between the two families have been, as one observer put it, “icy at best.”
One Beckham family friend was blunt: “Nicola is used to living like a princess. Her father is a billionaire. Her idea of ‘tight’ is someone only hiring two chefs for a party instead of four. But that kind of casual entitlement doesn’t go down well with the Beckhams, who had to earn everything they have.”
Perhaps most frustrating for the Beckhams is what they see as Nicola's careful crafting of a victim persona. “She’s clever with social media,” one source added. “She posts these cryptic things, like she’s sad or misunderstood, and it sends the internet into overdrive. But what you don’t see is how rude and dismissive she can be to Victoria and even David at family events.”
The Beckhams, of course, have remained publicly silent on the matter, choosing instead to keep their smiles plastered on during public appearances. But behind the scenes, friends say Victoria has been “devastated” by how strained her relationship with Brooklyn has become, due to what they claim is Nicola’s “relentless control and need to dominate every situation.”
One insider close to Victoria added, “She’s heartbroken. She raised Brooklyn to be close to his family, grounded, loyal. But now he’s like a shadow of himself, constantly having to navigate Nicola’s moods. And when things go wrong, it’s always someone else’s fault – usually Victoria.”
While Team Peltz has so far declined to comment publicly, a source close to Nicola insists the accusations are “ridiculous,” claiming that the young couple “just want peace” and are “tired of being scapegoated.”
Still, the battle lines have been drawn – and it seems the frost between the Beckhams and the Peltz-Beckhams isn’t thawing anytime soon.
As one family friend concluded grimly, “They may be family by marriage, but emotionally, they’re galaxies apart. And at the centre of it is a very spoiled young woman who thinks the world should orbit around her – and is stunned when it doesn’t.”
