Paige DeSorbo is no stranger to turning real-life moments into highly relatable podcast content — but her latest Giggly Squad episode is sparking an unexpected wave of criticism. The Summer House star and Daphne founder recently opened up about her frightening collapse while filming a Love Island USA challenge in Fiji. While many listeners praised her candor, others say she crossed the line — and may have downplayed the severity of the incident in an attempt to maintain her cool-girl image.
In the episode, Paige described in vivid detail how she arrived in Fiji and began filming within 24 hours, wearing a full suede skirt under intense tropical heat. “I was born for this,” she joked, adding that she didn't feel the need to take her usual beta blockers because she wasn’t nervous — just hot. She recalled filming for nearly two hours, throwing up mid-shoot, and ultimately passing out in front of the production crew.
But while Paige spoke openly about feeling unwell, what struck some fans was her tone — described as nonchalant, playful, and even lighthearted while recounting what was, by all accounts, a serious medical incident. “I’m not gonna be a diva,” she said. “I just had to throw up — I’m good.” At another point, she admitted that it “took everything” in her to ask for help, but reassured listeners she was fine after a quick recovery break.
While many of her devoted fans applauded her vulnerability and “relatable girlie” attitude, others weren’t so impressed.
“She was literally passed out from heat exhaustion, and she’s laughing about it like it was quirky?” one Reddit user posted. “That’s not funny — that’s dangerous.”
Another comment on X (formerly Twitter) read: “Paige glamorizing her collapse like it was part of the aesthetic isn’t the flex she thinks it is.” Several others pointed out that fainting from overheating, vomiting, and nearly blacking out should have been a bigger red flag for the production team — and that Paige’s blasé attitude only contributes to the toxic narrative that “strong women push through anything.”
Some even argued that Paige, knowingly or not, downplayed a serious health scare in service of a carefully curated public persona — one that relies heavily on being chill, effortlessly put-together, and unbothered. “It’s not about being real,” another fan wrote. “It’s about how she always has to come off like she’s above the drama — even when the drama is her own health.”
Others pointed out a double standard. “If someone like Lindsay [Hubbard] or Danielle [Olivera] told this story the same way, they’d be dragged for being reckless,” one Bravo blogger tweeted. “But Paige gets a pass because she’s ‘funny’ and ‘aesthetic.’”
Despite the backlash, Paige has not yet responded publicly to the criticism. But sources close to the Summer House star say she has no regrets about sharing her story the way she did — and that she was simply “trying to be honest in her own voice.” According to an insider, “She wasn’t trying to make it cute. That’s just how she tells stories. She was genuinely exhausted and wanted to talk about it with her audience.”
Still, the moment has reignited the broader debate about influencer culture, health transparency, and whether there’s a responsibility to be more serious when discussing medical scares — especially ones filmed in high-risk working conditions.
For now, Paige remains silent on the issue. But fans — divided as they may be — are continuing to dissect the podcast clip frame by frame, tone by tone. And in true Bravo fashion, the fallout may just become the bigger story.
