It was never going to be easy navigating the family dynamic. But Sergio Carrallo went into his marriage with Caroline Stanbury with the knowledge that he would be a step-father to three teenage children. And the expected conflicts sometimes make it on screen for Real Housewives of Dubai.
Most recently, Sergio desires to be a father. For her part, Caroline has three kids with her ex-husband Cem Habib. And her eldest, Yasmine Habib, has opinions about her mother and Sergio having a child.
Sergio wants to “dedicate time” to a baby
On Episode 5 of RHODubai’s sophomore season, Caroline and Sergio shared Yasmine’s hesitancy for a half-sibling while giving co-star Chanel Ayan a tour of their new home.
Chanel revealed that Yasmine told her she was against the idea, “because basically she was raised by a nanny, and now that she’s leaving [for college] she feels the baby would be on their own.”
Sergio countered, “As much as I love her, she cannot control her mom’s happiness. The baby will come at the right time, and I want to actually dedicate time to the baby…You know? I want to be a father. I believe the baby that we will have will be a fun baby.”
It’s a dynamic that has been going on since last season, with Sergio clear on his intentions while Caroline is unsure that she wants to have another child. The couple did a successful round of IVF, though, and have an embryo on ice.
“She wasn’t totally raised by nannies. I’m a working woman. I had employees at the time. I was home on the weekend,” Caroline explained of her daughter’s childhood. “She’s fine.”
Interestingly, Yasmine brought up the topic as Caroline herself was raised in boarding school. The professional influencer explained what her childhood was like in comparison.
“Yasmine has no clue what it used to be like. I had nannies in brown uniforms, brown gloves. It was so formal. And with my kids, I wasn’t around that much but I ran a big business,” she added. “Yasmine wants to be a lawyer, so what am I gonna do, tell her, ‘You have kids and you’re never going to live your dreams?’ Absolutely not.”
