cheana Shay claims the men from “Vanderpump Rules” took the news of a cast reboot the hardest.
On the December 27 episode of the “Scheananagins With Scheana Shay” podcast, the Bravo OG said she was told that James Kennedy had a “hard time with the shakeup news, which broke in November after a long “pause” from filming.
“I mean I’m not distraught,” Shay said on her podcast. “I wasn’t shocked at all.”
She continued, “I think the men, minus Brock [Davis], from what I’ve heard took it the hardest, definitely not the women. I think we were all kind of in a place where we’re like, ‘OK if it continues great,’ I did think there was more stories to tell. We’ll just be telling that somewhere else now, but I think the women were kind of ready to move on to another platform to tell our stories.“
Shay revealed that the original plan was for her to stay on “Vanderpump Rules” and make appearances on the spinoff series “The Valley.” But on November 26, TMZ confirmed that “Vanderpump Rules” would be completely recast with current staffers from Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant for season 12.
Shay was an original cast member since the Emmy-nominated show’s 2013 debut. Other longtime cast members included Kennedy, Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney, Ariana Madix, and Lala Kent.
At the time the reboot was confirmed, a source told People magazine that the veteran cast members were “understandably upset that it’s all coming to an end, but no one was necessarily surprised.”
Scheana Shay Revealed What She Will Miss About ‘Vanderpump Rules’
Katie Maloney, Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, Lisa Vanderpump, James Kennedy, Lala Kent, Tom Schwartz, and Scheana Shay.
On her podcast, Shay admitted that she will miss her “Vanderpump Rules” family. “Any sad feelings that I have about not returning for season 12 are mostly not being able to work with that crew,” she shared. “I love the crew that we’ve had, and hopefully we’ll be able to work together on other projects because we became like a family. So that was definitely the hardest part.”
“And the whole thing was bittersweet and sad to say goodbye, but excited for the new SURvers and the next chapter of their lives,” Shay added. “But I will miss seeing so many people on the crew, definitely. and I’m excited for new opportunities ahead outside of ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ but I’m also a nostalgic person and it’s never easy to say goodbye. Honestly, it all feels right. It’s still all happening, it’s just happening a little differently.”
Scheana Shay Shared an Emotional Post About ‘Vanderpump Rules’
After the reboot was announced, Shay posted a series of throwback photos from her 12 years on “Vanderpump Rules.” The slideshow kicked off with a vintage pic of her wearing her original SUR waitress uniform. “The end of an era…the start of something new ✨,” she captioned the post. “I never could have imagined while shooting the pilot for VPR that it would become what it has, nor go on for as long as it did,” she added.
Shay also paid homage to the “amazing crew” at Bravo, NBC Universal, and the production company Evolution Media. “Thank you for the experience of a lifetime,” the “Vanderpump Rules” OG wrote. “I will forever be grateful for the opportunities this show has generated and for the memories we’ve made along the way. We truly have worked with the best cast, crew and been part of so many special moments in each other’s lives.”
