On Christmas Day, Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay shared a family portrait from the sunny beaches of Hawaii. “Mele Kalikimaka from the Davies family!” she captioned the photo, accompanied by a Santa emoji.
Worried that haters would think the photo was fake, she went out of her way to provide proof that she was actually in Oahu, along with her husband Brock Davies and their 3-year-old daughter Summer.
“Haters will say it’s photoshopped … proof we were here,” Shay captioned a video of her little family preparing to take the photo. “Merry Christmas!”
It’s always all about Scheana Shay
Scheana is often busy on Instagram, addressing rumors and correcting Bravo fans who criticize her. The mom of one is very sensitive and easily upset by negative comments regarding her or her loved ones. Some have called her “self-absorbed,” while fans joke about how everything affects her. Don’t get me wrong, I actually like Scheana … most of the time. But she does take a lot of things personally when they have nothing to do with her.
“Feels like something’s finally about me,” Scheana said on her Scheanigans podcast back in April. “I’m laughing when I’m seeing these. I’ve even retweeted and responded to people because I’m just like, ‘You know what? I like to be in on the joke.’”
In VPR Season 11 when Scheana expressed how deeply she was affected by Tom Sandoval’s cheating on Ariana Madix, some fans thought she was making it all about herself.
“I just am hurting still,” she told Lala Kent at the time. “Why can I never have one moment where it can be about me? I’m hurt.”
“I lost a very, very dear friend,” she added, referring to Sandoval. “I am struggling with that, but I’m not allowed to feel anything because it is only about Ariana.”
Scheana seemed jealous of Ariana for being on DWTS
Also in Season 11, when news came out that Ariana was going to be on Dancing with the Stars, Scheana seemed to be eating sour grapes. Fans were surprised when she said she’d wanted to be a DWTS contestant years before Ariana was asked. When social media criticized the Good as Gold singer, she backtracked by explaining that she meant “no shade” toward Ariana.
When DWTS pro Gleb Savchenko, who choreographed the first dance at Scheana’s wedding to Mike Shay, weighed in on her comments, it was the last straw. “She’s an awesome girl and everything,” Gleb said. “[But] I didn’t think she had a lot of dance experience.” He added a little shade, saying “maybe she’s improved” and “got much better now.”
“That was my genuine emotion in the moment,” she explained on her podcast. “As cringe as I might be sometimes, I don’t ever regret sharing. That is literally my job here … trying to be the most open and honest version of myself — even if at times the audience may not agree with me.”
“I went way out of my comfort zone this season,” she added. “I’m hoping that y’all can show me some grace … I’m putting it all out there because I hope it helps people who have gone through similar things.”
