A peek at a group text between the women on The Real Housewives of New York City has revealed a more flammable side to Brynn Whitfield.
Sai De Silva came with receipts (or at least Bravo came with screenshots) when out for a cuppa with Jenna Lyons in Season 15, Episode 2. The fashionistas discussed the events of the season premiere, which culminated when Sai accused Brynn of “constantly causing havoc” among them, including when Brynn allegedly told Jenna Sai “hated” her.
Sai offered a mea culpa to Jenna in Episode 1 but continued to be at odds with Brynn, as evidenced by a message Brynn sent the group. It felt especially poignant since Sai mentioned the text after discussing how she sent Brynn an olive branch to no avail.
“It’s like, I get so much sh-t for being mean, but we have all seen Brynn do the same sh-t,” Sai told Jenna. “The difference is, she doesn’t do this sh-t on camera.”
Sai then cited the “double standard” of the text Brynn sent the other Housewives.
What did Brynn Whitfield's text say?
“I don’t scream or yell; I won’t bash you in the press. No, no, not my style,” Brynn stated in the message. “I’m far, far too elegant and smart for that … Someone who tried to f-ck with me once called me carbon monoxide. Invisible, odorless, and sucks the very life out of you before you even have the chance to realize it.”
Sai didn't love the comparison, but Jenna said she didn’t think Brynn was “truthfully” looking for a response from the others.
“However, yelling at someone over text is not my preferred mode of communication,” she told producers.
Jenna noted that both Sai and Brynn were “guarded” people who had to fight through life for what they had. Therefore, it formed a clash in which Sai wasn’t showing her softer side, something Sai herself acknowledged. But she admitted it was hard when Brynn wouldn’t meet her halfway.
“If you want to find something with her, the only way is with softness and tenderness and vulnerability,” Jenna advised, adding that Brynn wouldn’t be so receptive if Sai continued to be defensive.
“Why should I be soft with someone who is actually doing the hurting to me?” Sai rhetorically asked.
Will Sai reconcile with Brynn?
So far, there are no signs of things improving between the two, but that doesn’t mean things can’t be mended later this season.
In the recent episode, Sai continued her grievances against Brynn while out on a shopping date with Ubah Hassan.
“It’s like she wants everybody else to fight, but only be friends with her,” Sai claimed.
Of course, carbon monoxide isn’t known to work well with others. But as far as Brynn and her fellow ’Wives are concerned, only time will tell if their bonds will strengthen.
