Ryan Lindgren Still Getting Adjusted To Playing With Face Shield After Jaw Surgery-quang

Peter Laviolette opened up about the big change in Ryan Lindgren and what he has to deal with since suffering a jaw injury.

It’s been an adjustment for Ryan Lindgren since coming back from injured reserve.

In the preseason, Lindgren suffered a jaw injury after fighting Scott Mayfield, which caused him to miss the remainder of training camp and first few games of the regular season.

Since making his return, Lindgren has been wearing a full face shield, something hard for him to get fully adjusted to.

"I still think that he's dealing with that cage on his face and he's working his way back… It's hard to isolate anybody and talk about them when that’s a big bus that we all can get on and just say, ‘It's not good enough,’" Peter Laviolette said.

Lindgren talked about the extent of his jaw injury and getting used to the face shield upon making his return a couple of weeks ago.

“I ended up getting surgery on it,” Lindgren said. “I’ve been skating for a while now, skating with the bubble obviously. Just kind of getting used to that. It feels good now.”

Through seven games, the 26-year-old defenseman has recorded one goal and one point while averaging 19:17 minutes per game.

Lindgren started playing with Victor Mancini, but is now paired with Adam Fox, his usual defense partner.

Lindgren has proven to be a valuable blueliner for the Rangers and once he gets back to full form, he should continue to be just that, but give him some time.
