Season 5 of RHOSLC is off with a bang, in a bath bomb based effervescent feud that the reunion host Andy Cohen can’t get enough of.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City are back, bringing all the drama to our screens as the season 5 premiere dropped on September 18. The ladies of Utah are not letting conflicts go from season 4, especially those surrounding activities in the tub. Whitney and Meredith have already been at each other’s throats and it seems fans, including Andy Cohen, absolutely cannot get enough of the petty squabbles.
The bathing feud begins – Whitney calls Meredith’s habits “creepy”
Fans know and love the fact The Real Housewives ladies are petty, these ladies can go up in arms over the most frivolous things. Whitney Rose has never been close to Meredith Marks, mainly due to Meredith rolling with Lisa, who didn’t like Whitney.
Though, when Lisa turned on Meredith with a line of expletives, she turned to her frenemy and started buddying up with Whitney. They formed a gossip-centered alliance, until Whitney made a joke at the expense of Meredith and this is where the bath-time-feud began.
The skincare creator decided to pass public judgement on Meredith and husband Seth’s cleaning habits, calling it “creepy” that they bathe together.
In the Bravo season 4 premiere, Meredith told Heather Gay: “She’s in the press, and she says this whole thing about how Seth and I taking a bath is creepy and, like, filled with bacteria or DNA or whatever.”
Whitney protests: “That was a funny joke.” Meredith did not agree.
Absolute bath bomb blow-up
This leads us to the most recent rift: Meredith believes Whitney copied her bath bomb idea – something no true friend would ever do.
During the season 4 Bravo reunion, as the pair made-up over their tub-tussle, reunion host Andy Cohen suggested Meredith should use her bathing-fame to start selling bath time accessories. Meredith was keen on the idea, however, it seems Whitney beat her to the draw.
In the season 5 premiere, Heather asked Meredith if she thought Whitney stole the bath bomb idea intentionally, to which she replied: “Of course she did!”
During their confrontation at Lisa Beso’s dinner party, Whitney insisted she has “no problem with Meredith” and that her co-star is just “reading too much” into the bath bomb coincidence.
Meredith calmly suggested Whitney could have at least given her a friendly heads up before she launched her fizzing product, but the Wild Rose Beauty bath bomb seller countered she had always made Iris and Beau bombs. And well, a better friend would have known that.
Apparently, this isn’t the first pilfered product, Whitney also dropped a jewelry line behind Meredith’s back. In the season 5 premiere Meredith stated she was sick of “Whitney stepping on [her toes]” which was “very hurtful.”
Andy Cohen is loving the feud – ‘The more frivolous, the better’
On SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the host expressed absolute glee over this effervescent premiere. He said: “Last night was the big Salt Lake City Housewives premiere. It was great. People are activated.”
Naturally, the frothing dispute was discussed: “You know I love the bath bomb dispute between Meredith and Whitney.”
What the host really loved was the frivolity of it all: “[What] I like my housewives fighting over is seating assignments, bath bombs, bows on cakes. The more frivolous, the better.”
Cohen admires the ladies “passion and energy” reaching similar heights in any argument, be it about bath bombs or, he comically added: “A lawsuit. Something ugly. Adultery. I don’t know.”
