Karen Huger appeared on Sunday night’s Watch What Happens Live, where she admitted to being snubbed by Shannon Beador after her DUI arrest.
Following the premiere episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac season nine, Karen, 61, opened up about her March arrest for DUI, admitted to being hurt by her co-stars’ reaction to it, and avoided a question about her current alcohol use. She also looked ahead to Gizelle Bryant, 54, and Wendy Osefo‘s reconciliation, and more.
“First of all, it’s two different incidents,” Karen clarified on the October 6 episode of WWHL after being asked if she and Shannon bonded over their “similar experiences” with DUI. “Shannon, I’m so grateful she’s okay. I’m so proud of her. When it happened to Shannon I did text her.”
Although Karen reached out to Shannon, 60, after she was arrested in September 2023, she got no response.
“I did not hear from her. I wished her well,” Karen revealed.
During Sunday’s premiere, a reenactment of Karen’s crash was aired as her castmates, including Ashley Darby, 36, and Jacqueline Blake, 39, reacted to the scary news.
“I care for these women and what I wanted them to do is be patient and wait because it’s an ongoing case,” Karen stated, proceeding to shade Ashley’s own drinking habits.
“Ashley saying what she said — and let’s be clear, Ashley needs to be concerned with her relationship with alcohol, the way she sucks down the Coronas,” Karen alleged.
Karen also slammed Jacqueline for weighing in.
“I don’t know Jacqueline like that, so I would never call a ‘friend of.’ I would call [Gizelle]. Okay?” she declared.
“It’s just very painful. Again, it’s still going on. It’s very painful to listen to that, and their accusations. Are you wishing me harm? I’m hoping to win when it’s all out, but I have to respect the law. But when I can speak about it, I plan to be open and transparent as I always have been,” Karen continued.
As for Mia Thornton, 39, sharing that Jacqueline thought Karen was “tipsy” during a call, Karen again pointed at Jacqueline’s issues.
“I thought Mia was spoon-feeding Jacqueline, but then again, Jacqueline needs to be concerned about the 20, as I mentioned later in the season, that her partner has. I can handle mine,” she assured.
Understandably, it was hard for Karen to watch the fallout from her DUI play out on the show.
“It took me back to that time and it’s still ongoing, and it just was so painful to watch it because I lived through it, and [the reenactment] was very eerily close to it except for the deer. No deer,” she stated.
While Karen was questioned about her current relationship with alcohol and how her DUI charge may have changed it, she didn’t offer a clear reaction.
“Honestly, I can’t speak to that because that’s part of the case, and I think this is a wonderful platform, but we’ve gotta be careful what we say about people if they’ve never seen it or witnessed it,” she noted. “[But] I wanna say this. I should’ve said it first: I am so grateful that no one else was involved in that accident, that no one else got hurt. That’s really important to me, I couldn’t live with myself if that happened.”
Moving on to Wendy and Gizelle’s upcoming reconciliation, Karen said, “I was hopeful, so it’s a good thing.”
She then admitted that no one surprised her amid season nine.
“I don’t think I was surprised by anyone, I was hoping that they would surprise me,” she stated.
Karen also weighed in on whether Mia would marry Incognito and if he was capable of supporting her lifestyle, saying, “Mia is in survival mode. I don’t know what she’ll do or won’t do.”
Also on the episode, during a game of “Do! You! Regret It!?,” Karen said she did not regret making a big deal about Juan Dixon, 45, being spotted with someone who looked like her.
“I like Juan, but no, I don’t,” she stated.
Then, while looking back on her “fiery box” rant against Gizelle, Karen said she “maybe” regretted it.
“We can go too hard sometimes, Gizzy and I,” she shared.
The Real Housewives of Potomac season nine airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
