Melissa Gorga was confronted about her leaked text messages with Teresa Giudice during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday night.
After the Real Housewives of New Jersey star was seemingly caught lying about the interaction she and her sister-in-law had after the season 12 reunion, Melissa explained her “point” before addressing a number of other RHONJ-related topics, including her relationships with Kathy Wakile and Rosie Pierri, Teresa’s engagement party claims, and Luis Ruelas‘ “twisted” comments about things she’s said on her podcast.
“I did not misrepresent. My point is still the same,” Melissa confirmed on the WWHL: After Show on February 21 after host Andy Cohen mentioned the leaked messages. “There’s no interaction, okay, for three weeks, after I sent a nice like, ‘Let’s just call this peace today, please, like, don’t get mad,’ whatever I said. There was zero until the reunion aired.”
According to Melissa, Teresa only reached out to her to suggest they go to lunch after experiencing backlash for her behavior at the reunion.
“I just knew it was self-serving and had nothing to do with the relationship between her and I and I’m just sick of it,” Melissa explained. “I didn’t want to hold her accountable anymore. I just wanted to say, ‘Listen, it’s okay. You don’t even need to do it. We don’t need to go to lunch. Let’s be cordial. We’re gonna see each other. Let’s be friendly. Let’s let the kids be friendly. But we don’t need to have lunch. You know you don’t wanna go to lunch. Just be real about that.’ That’s what I was trying to say.’”
Meanwhile, on the live broadcast of WWHL, Melissa admitted that, looking back, she regrets cutting certain people, including Kathy and Rosie, out of her life in order to maintain peace with Teresa.
“Yes … Joe always thinks about that as well. And I think he did that for her,” Melissa shared. “She got out of prison, and she thought that was her next step, He wanted to please her, but you can see him in that scene, he was very uncomfortable. That’s the only family he has, and we love Kathy and Rosie, and I’m sad that we don’t have them anymore.”
During the latest episode of RHONJ, Joe expressed frustration with Melissa’s family being left off the guest list of Teresa’s wedding. And while Melissa acknowledged that his emotions were high, she understood his sentiment.
“I get upset with Joe sometimes from his emotion, but I get it’s coming from a place of hurt. You can clearly see he’s very invested in it,” she noted. “Sometimes I get confused because Luis got here not that long ago, so I get confused where he gets so invested and where I know where Joe is coming from.”
Also, on the show, Melissa reacted to Teresa saying she was supposed to sit at her table at her engagement party but chose to sit elsewhere.
“That was a blatant lie. And I think I proved that,” Melissa stated.
As for Luis mentioning Melissa’s podcast, suggesting she claimed Teresa’s kids wouldn’t have eaten if it weren’t for her and Joe, Melissa slammed his statement as “twisted.”
“That’s not what I meant by it,” she insisted.
While Melissa and Teresa have been at odds for months, with no end to their feud in sight, Melissa did agree with a comment Teresa made in regard to her hopes for their children’s lasting friendships.
“They’ll see each other more. I am [hopeful] too,” Melissa shared.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 13 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
