Julia Lemigova and wife Martina Navratilova have adopted two young boys into their family. During the past two seasons of Real Housewives of Miami, the couple discussed their desire to adopt, but then Martina – a former tennis legend – was diagnosed with throat and breast cancer. But she announced earlier this year that she’s cancer-free.
Julia, a model and former Miss USSR, shared her desire to have more kids now that her other children are older. She married Martina in December 2014, but they were together for many years before tying the knot.
Reps for Julia and Martina confirmed to Page Six that they’ve adopted two boys.
“They are delighted and request that they are now given the space and privacy to welcome the new members of their family,” said the publicists.
Martina released a statement about how happy she is to expand her and Julia’s family.
“We are over the moon recognizing the challenges and the rewards for everybody,” said Martina.
After Martina’s throat and breast cancer diagnosis, the couple paused their adoption plans. But last year, the athlete shared that she’s now cancer-free, and she revealed they were “not closing the door” on adoption.
“I hope that we will soon expand our family,” said Julia in an interview in December.
In a March 2023 interview for Piers Morgan Uncensored, Martina said adoption seemed unlikely following the health battle.
“I think [adoption] was a nice thought for a while, but I think this has brought it into sharp focus — you know, I’m not really the youngest anymore, and I don’t want to be the grandmother on the playground,” she said at the time. “Forget that part, there’s just not enough space I think for this to happen.”
According to rumor, the next season of Real Housewives of Miami will feature some cast changes, though it’s unknown who will stay and who will go. The network seems to have delayed production, but it will reportedly start back up in the fall.
If Julia returns, viewers will likely see her new family members.
