RHOC’s Emily Simpson Recalls Miscarrying With Twins: ‘Most Horrible Thing I’ve Ever Been Through’-quang

TW: This article contains an in-depth discussion of miscarriage.

My favorite cast member on Real Housewives of Orange County is Emily Simpson. We have a lot in common. Emily also has a lot in common with women across the world. At four months pregnant, Emily miscarried her twins. This loss is the “most horrible thing” Emily has ever endured.

Miscarriages are, in large part, a lesser talked about form of trauma. So props to Emily for speaking on such a tragic topic that is beyond near and dear to many of her viewers’ hearts.

Emily Simpson from RHOC opens up about her tragic miscarriage with twins

Scheana Shay welcomed Emily onto her Scheananigans podcast, where Emily got real about one of the darkest days of her life. When she “first got married,” she “started trying to have kids pretty early.” Emily was already 32, so her clock was ticking, she explained.

“I had multiple miscarriages. I don’t even know how many at this point [but] I think it was like five or six or something, just one after another, after another. It got to the point where I did in vitro [fertilization],” Emily stressed.

But after receiving a positive pregnancy result, her happy news quickly waned. “I’ll never forget. I was at Costco, and I was pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. I was four months along, and I remember saying to Shane, ‘I don’t feel right. Something feels wrong,’” Emily began.

“Right when I said that, my water broke all over the aisle. Of course, when you are only four months pregnant and your water breaks, something is wrong,” Emily added.

Emily then rushed to an emergency room, where she “had to go into labor,” knowing full well that her babies would not survive. Her ordeal resulted in an emergency D&C and a blood transfusion.

“It was the most horrible thing I’ve ever been through in my entire life. I remember crying the entire time,” saying, “‘I’m never doing this again. I can’t go through this,’” Emily recalled.

Thankfully, her sister stepped in as a surrogate, helping Emily safely expand her family. This life is hard, so often, it takes a village to help us keep things going. Thank you for your transparency, Emily.
