Like many before her, Annemarie Wiley’s time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was short lived and controversial.
But even following her departure from the show, the alum says the she was cancelled in Hollywood due to being a conservative.
Annemarie Wiley appeared on conservative commentator Tomi Lahren’s podcast last week to complain about being shunned in Hollywood for transphobic and other conservative beliefs.
She called people living in L.A. are “hateful” for having left-leaning beliefs.
"Especially living in California, in Los Angeles, where people are so — for lack of a better term — just hateful," Wiley said. "People are very, very hateful, and they will spew terms like ‘bigot’ and ‘transphobic’ in order to silence you and cause fear,” she said.
She claims people in the area will “make you feel bad for speaking out about what you believe in."
Annemarie began to receive hate for backing up her husband Marcellus Wiley when he publicly stated trans women should not compete in women’s sports.
"On the issue of trans women competing in women's sports, he said he would not allow our daughters to compete with a biological male. He would protect them from that," Annemarie stated.
And so someone in this media universe dug that up, and I was vilified because of it."
Part of Annemarie’s controversy while appearing on RHOBH was a lawsuit accusing Marcellus of rape in 1994.
The plaintiff, who attended Columbia University with Marcellus, accused him of sexual assault and rape.
Many viewers of the show vocally opposed the couples’ presence on Bravo’s network.
Annemarie shared view on Bravo’s decision to not ask her to return.
“I just got word today that I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” the 40-year-old began her post.
“To say that I’m disappointed is an understatement,” she continued. “I never auditioned for this show. The show found me and asked me to be on it out of the blue 6 weeks after the cast had already started filming.”
The mother of four provided some context for her experience during production.
Annemarie explained, “I was thrown into filming 2 weeks later, mid season. I was very excited about the opportunity, and I thought following exactly what I was instructed to do throughout filming last season was the way the ‘game was played.’ Listening to what I was instructed to do was my rookie mistake.
“What I am disappointed about is that the fans never got to see the real me or even a glimpse of my unique life story…Contrary to what was shown on TV, I am not obsessed with the esophagus! LOL”
The Bravo star went on to highlight some things she wished were featured on RHOBH.
Annemarie wrote, “What I am is a woman, a proud black woman, who is truly blessed with a wonderful strong black man as my husband who lifts me and our four wonderful children up with so much love and positivity on a daily.
“It was an important mission of mine for the next season to show a solid black family unit and that ‘true black love’ exists, even in Beverly Hills…my struggle with losing my mother to lung cancer within weeks of taping, and my struggle with adoption trauma and what was going to be, and still will be, a new life journey for me to find my biological parents. All of which was taped, but never shown last season…among other things.”
The nurse anesthetist expressed gratitude to her supporters.
“To the fans that saw me past what was portrayed and saw the REAL me, thank you so much for the love and support,” she penned. “I wish all the ladies good luck on the next season and thank you Bravo for the opportunity.”
Annemarie added, “As an athlete, challenges only make you stronger and more determined to prosper!”
