Shamea Morton is sharing a difficult moment in her journey to grow her family.
On this week's episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Morton shared that she'd "just had" an ectopic pregnancy while trying to get pregnant again. An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus.
“I just had an ectopic pregnancy,” Morton said in the scene. “That was the scariest thing ever.”
In a confessional, Morton opened up more about the experience, saying that it was quite painful.
“I finally got pregnant. I was excited," she remembered. "But then, I started having really sharp pain.”

Back in the scene, Morton said she had to go to the hospital, where she felt like she wasn't being taken seriously.
“I was like, I’m gonna just drive to the hospital. So they’re like, “Ma’am, you have a lot of people ahead of you.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness,' " Morton recalled. "So I get ready to sit back in the wheelchair and blood just goes everywhere.”
In her confessional, Morton shared that it's particularly upsetting to her to know that this is a problem that many other Black women face.
“It just breaks my heart how much Black women suffer with maternal mortality,” Morton shared, getting emotional.
“We can never been taken serious. And sometimes they’ll say, ‘Well, you have to find a healthcare provider, or a doctor that looks like you.’ But sometimes, you just have to have people that are still human, that believe you.”
Morton and her husband Gerald Mwangi are parents to two daughters — Shya, whom they welcomed in 2018, and Shiloh, who was born via surrogate in 2023.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
