Real Housewives of Atlanta newbie Kelli Ferrell’s bitter divorce from her ex-husband Chuvalo Ferrell was officially finalized weeks after he was thrown in jail for contempt, In Touch can exclusively report.
In Touch obtained the final judgment and decree signed by the court on September 23, 2024. The judgment noted that exes appeared before the court on two separate occasions in August 2024.
After reviewing the evidence, the judge reached a decision on the division of property and support.
Kelli filed for divorce in 2022. The exes share three children: Chance, born 2012, and twins, Chasiti and Chelsi, born 2015. Kelli has an older daughter named Chloe from a previous relationship.
The court ordered the parties to share joint legal custody. Kelli was awarded primary custody and will have the right to make any decisions regarding the child’s education and non-emergency healthcare.
Chuvalo will be entitled to visitation with the children.
He was ordered to pay $3,991 per month in child support and maintain health insurance for his offspring. The court ordered the exes to split the proceeds from the sale of their marital home.
Kelli was awarded $175,000 and $90,000 went to Chuvalo. “The parties owned and operated a restaurant together during the marriage, Nana’s Chicken N Waffles, and through that business venture, the parties incurred various debts, As it relates to the marital debts, the parties guaranteed multiple business loans from various third parties and creditors,” the order read.
“During their separation, the parties defaulted on accrued federal sales taxes and Georgia state tax liabilities stemming from business operations from 2017 to 2022,” the filing noted.
The court laid out who will pay each debt. The judgment noted that during the parties separation, Chuvalo “disposed of approximately $790,000 of marital assets.”
The judge said, “Although [Chuvalo] disposed of numerous marital assets, [Kelli] testified that several of the items were gifts the parties gave one another during their marriage.”
Kelli was awarded all household furniture worth $45,000, a 2021 Navy Blue Cadillac Escalade, Rolex Oyster wristwatch, diamond necklace and her wedding ring set. The settlement comes weeks after Chuvalo was locked up for failing to pay child support.
On August 7, the judge granted Kelli’s request to throw Chuvalo behind bars over money owed. The court ordered Chuvalo to stay behind bars until he coughed up $14,889.
Jail records obtained by In Touch showed Chuvalo was booked into the Rockdale County jail on August 7.
Kelli’s ex was released on August 14, 2024, after posting bond. In her initial divorce petition, Kelli listed the date of marriage as August 20, 2011, and the date of separation as January 2022. She demanded sole custody of the kids.
Chuvalo demanded joint legal and physical custody.
Chuvalo’s rep previously told In Touch, “Mr. Ferrell appreciates the interest in his ongoing personal matters, but he is committed to focusing on his family and professional responsibilities during this challenging time. It is important to note that the details surrounding his divorce from Kelli Potter-Ferrell are complex and sensitive. Mr. Ferrell has consistently sought to resolve these issues amicably and in the best interests of all parties involved, particularly their children.”
Earlier this year, it was announced Kelli would be joining season 16 of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
