David Beador has been on the receiving end of a lot of bad press lately, you know, with his new younger girlfriend Lesley Cook speaking out to defend him in the media, plus his reported angry comments after a Judge ordered him to pay his estranged wife Shannon Beador $30,000 a month in spousal and child support.
So perhaps that’s why a random new report came out in the press this weekend revealing the former Real Housewives of Orange County star still feels “guilty” for cheating on Shannon, and that he recently coughed up some major dough for Shannon and their three daughters to go on a luxurious Mexican vacation.
According to Us Weekly, David, 53, is trying his best to remain a good dad despite his very bitter divorce battle with Shannon, which includes allegations of perjury and excessive drinking.
“Shannon recently took her three daughters with David to Mexico for a week of fun in the sun, and he paid for all of it,” a source reveals.
The trip reportedly cost David $20,000 and included first class tickets for Shannon and the kids.
“Even though Shannon and David continue to duke it out in court, he wanted them to have a great family vacation, without him,” the source states. “No matter what is going on with David and Shannon regarding the divorce, he will always step up and do the right thing for his family.”
David is also said to still have a lot of regret when it comes to his infidelity which ultimately ended up breaking up his family…although he reportedly feels the marriage was already on the verge collapsing even before he cheated.
“There is obviously a tremendous amount of guilt that David feels because of cheating on Shannon, and he truly tried to make the marriage work in the aftermath,” the insider adds. “The relationship had been in trouble for a very long time prior to David’s affair. It’s not an excuse, but they had underlying issues for a long time.”
David is now “trying to do the right thing by Shannon and the girls.” The source adds, “And no, he isn’t just trying to throw money at them to appease his guilt. He is a very present father in their lives.”
On the upside for David, the judge did grant him and Shannon joint physical and legal custody of their children, during the Friday hearing.
