Ravens $36 million playmaker could leave Baltimore for Raiders - suong

Report: Steelers Could Trade Diontae JohnsonThe 2024 season hasn't gone the Las Vegas Raiders way, as the team is 2-7 and tied for the worst record in the league. Antonio Pierce's squad has lost five consecutive games after a 2-2 start and has yet to score 30 points in any contest.

With the Raiders season dead in the water, the franchise is entering one of the biggest offseasons in team history. Though the quarterback position will be the storyline of the offseason and desperately needs an upgrade, the wide receiver room could also be an area of focus.

The Davante Adams trade has left a massive void at the position for the Raiders, as the team doesn't have a reliable WR1. Jakobi Meyers is a solid WR2, and Tre Tucker can be the WR3 of the future, but neither has what it takes to serve as the primary pass catcher.

Rookie tight end Brock Bowers has assumed the role as the top passing option since Adams' departure, but Las Vegas must add another playmaker.

The free agency market is filled with exciting talent at receiver, but Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes the Raiders could be in the market for newly acquired Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson.

"Johnson is still young enough to warrant a multi-year free-agent deal, and he should be one of the top pass-catchers available. The Raiders, who traded Davante Adams a few weeks ago, could be interested in a veteran receiver like Johnson. The Raiders, presumably, will be looking to develop a new quarterback in 2025."

If Johnson's contract demands aren't absurd, Las Vegas should pursue the former Pro Bowler. The former third-round pick has posted two seasons with 80 receptions and had a career-high 107 catches and 1,161 yards in 2021.

Johnson was traded to the Ravens on October 29th but hasn't been an integral part of Baltimore's offense through two games. This will likely change sooner rather than later, as the former Toledo standout is too talented to keep on the sideline. Johnson has hauled in 31 catches for 363 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.

The Raiders must bolster the wide receiver group in the offseason if the team wants to compete next year and run a competent offense. Though Johnson isn't a superstar, he's a savvy veteran who would serve as a reliable security blanket for Las Vegas' presumed new signal caller.
