Rangers Jacob Trouba brutally slammed after poor performance against the Philadelphia Flyers

General Manager Chris Drury has attempted to send a message to the New York Rangers locker room. He placed two veterans on the trade block, in order to make the team understand how dire the circumstances are for the team. The Wild Should Go Get Jacob Trouba - Minnesota Wild - Hockey Wilderness

By placing Chris Kreider, and Jacob Trouba on the trade block, the intimidation from the front office, may have backfired. The team has slid back considerably in its play as they've lost their last 5 games.

Today the Rangers played the Philadelphia Flyers and lost 3-1, Jacob Trouba was once again on the receiving end of criticism from the media.

Larry Brooks "eloquently" slams the play of Trouba as lacking emotion and being checked out. If my GM placed me on the trade block, would this affect me negatively or not? Something I'd think about.

Mike Harring followed up with a comment about Trouba being gone already. Showing it on the ice!

Faithful Rangers' fans didn't have a great outlook on the Captain's play during the game against Philly either.

With Trouba being the team's Captain and at the top of trade talks, Drury's attempts to motivate his team may have backfired.

This stretch of play is troubling for both the Captain and the Rangers as it could lower Trouba's value significantly. But for the Rangers, it could make him more difficult to move during the deadline, as a Captain who can't produce or show up on the ice, would be a hard sell.

Is the GM incompetent too? Does he remember he has to find a way to move $8 Million in salary cap space?
