Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette provides some insight on Filip Chytil's mysterious injury

The New York Rangers have received a significant update on one of their key players as they suffered a mysterious upper-body injury back on Tuesday night.

The significant update the New York Rangers have received is that key forward Filip Chytil has resumed skating on Thursday after sustaining an upper-body injury during Tuesday nights game against the Dallas Stars.

During the game, Chytil exited the game with four minutes remaining the second period and then was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Chytil is not on the bench for third period, last shift ended with 4:00 remaining in second.

UPDATE: Filip Chytil (upper body) will not return tonight.

It's still remains unclear when or how Chytil suffered this apparent upper-body injury.

However, The 25-year-old forward missed practice on Wednesday, but then was luckily seen on the ice before New York's optional skate. Indicating that the injury isn't all that serious.

Head coach Peter Laviolette didn't get into specifics regarding Chytil's condition, but due to the fact he was able to skate is a major positive.

«It's great he is out on the ice today,» Laviolette said. «Right now it's just upper-body, but for me that's progression. Out on the ice, so that's a good thing.»

Chytil's timeline for return is still unknown at the moment, but there has been talks that he will travel with the team on their 3-game road trip and might make an appearance.

Do you think Filip Chytil will be good to play Saturday night against the Vegas Golden Knights? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to NY Rangers Insider for the latest news and update on the New York Rangers.
