Raiders urged to splash their $36M cap space on Bears star Keenan Allen in shock move to give Geno Smith a proven WR weapon — despite drafting THREE new wideouts in 2025 - suong

The Las Vegas Raiders added a couple of wide receivers during the 2025 NFL Draft, as the team selected Jack Bech in Round 2, Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 4, and Tommy Mellott in Round 6.

Though Bech and Thornton could be immediate contributors for Las Vegas and take some pressure off Jakobi Meyers, The Draft Network's Justin Melo believes the Raiders should sign Chicago Bears free-agent wide receiver Keenan Allen.

"Smith currently lacks proven passing-game weapons beyond tight end Brock Bowers. Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, and rookie second-rounder Jack Bech are currently listed as the starting wide receivers on the depth chart. Allen would immediately become the No. 2 option behind Bowers, and it's easy to envision him being willing to play for a veteran coach like Carroll," Melo wrote.

Allen is coming off a down year for his standards, as the veteran tallied 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games in 2024. The veteran served as the Bears' No.2 receiver opposite D.J. Moore and served as a reliable security blanket for quarterback Caleb Williams.

Though Allen is getting older, the 33-year-old still has some gas left in the tank and would be a nice addition to Las Vegas' offense. The California product would form a versatile trio with Meyers and All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers and give quarterback Geno Smith a capable intermediate target.

The Raiders have $36 million in cap space, per Over the Cap, and general manager John Spytek should use a chunk of that money to sign Allen. The six-time Pro Bowler has been a productive receiver since entering the league in 2013 and would be the perfect complement to Meyers and Bowers in the passing game.
