The name "Chip Kelly'' is not a particularly popular one in The Bay.
But he is suddenly a very popular - and wealthy - guy in Las Vegas.
To some fans of both the Philadelphia Eagles and the 49ers, Kelly represents NFL failure.
In Philly? He traded away most of Philadelphia's top talent in the early 2010s and was fired because of it, even as he totaled a 26-21 record and won the NFC East in 2013.
In San Francisco? After his time in Philadelphia ended, in 2016 Kelly jumped to the 49ers, a turn that lasted just a single season while going 2-14.
Now, Kelly is back in the NFL - and he just happens to be the league's newly-crowned highest-paid coordinator.
Kelly is being hired by the Las Vegas Raiders for their offensive coordinator position. Kelly will join the new boss Pete Carroll's staff after Kelly's successful year-long run with eventually college football champion Ohio State.
According to SI, Kelly will earn $6 million per season, thus making him the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL.
“The Raiders told candidates during their search they were making a serious commitment with an infusion of cash from the new owners,” SI writes. “Here it is—Chip Kelly was lured to Vegas with a deal averaging $6 million per year, per sources. Kelly is now the NFL’s highest-paid coordinator.”
Kelly's work in Philadelphia featured having traded away DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy while also allegedly spreading rumors about "gang affiliations" about players.
His work with the 49ers? He lasted just a single season.
Kelly, 61, seems to have found his way in a return to college, as his time with Ohio State ended with a national championship.
But now he's back in the NFL - and being paid as if he's the best in the business.
