Raiders predicted to add former $69 million All-Pro playmaker for Geno Smith - suong

The Las Vegas Raiders have a pressing need at wide receiver, as the team lacked high-end talent and production at the position in 2024 outside of Jakobi Meyers, and must add another impact pass catcher for quarterback Geno Smith.

The free-agent wide receiver market is filled with a ton of experienced veteran players, and Sporting News' Dan Treacy predicts the Raiders will reunite Smith and head coach Pete Carroll with Tyler Lockett.

"If Lockett doesn't return to the Seahawks, who suddenly could use any receiving help they can get behind Smith-Njigba, the Raiders are an obvious fit. Lockett was coached by Pete Carroll for nine seasons and spent six years with Geno Smith, including Smith's years as Russell Wilson's backup," Treacy wrote.

"Las Vegas has a clear need at the wide receiver position, so Lockett would have an opportunity for regular targets. Unless Lockett is set on joining a Super Bowl contender, this feels like a marriage that just makes too much sense for both sides," Treacy added.

Lockett had a down year in 2024, as the veteran played all 17 games and hauled in just 49 catches for 600 yards and two touchdowns. He was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Mar. 5 after 10 seasons with the franchise.

Though Lockett had an underwhelming 2024 campaign, the former Kansas State standout would be a nice addition to the Raiders' offense. Lockett rarely misses games, and there's a chance his performance last year was an anomaly, as the 32-year-old posted four straight seasons with over 80 catches and 1,000 yards from 2019-2022 and had 79 receptions for 894 yards in 2023.

Additionally, Lockett will be cheap to sign, as Spotrac projects the 2015 All-Pro selection will land a one-year deal worth $7.7 million. The Raiders should take a flyer on the former Seahawk and see if he can have a bounce-back season in Las Vegas with Smith and Carroll.
