Raiders Named Among Best Trade Fits for $160 Million Star QB - suong

The Las Vegas Raiders' path to a franchise quarterback is murky. They don't pick until No. 6 in the 2025 NFL Draft and even if they picked higher, this year's class of quarterbacks is considered weak compared to past years.

That could lead the Raiders to try and add a stopgap option in free agency like Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers. They could also decide that Sam Darnold is a franchise quarterback and give him a big contract.

While those are realistic options, the Raiders may also want to look around to see who is available on the trade market.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been in trade rumors despite the team making the playoffs last season. Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports named the Raiders as one of the best fits for him if he does get traded.

"Some view the Raiders as a prime team to trade up for a quarterback, but who really knows? The hiring of Pete Carroll was a relatively surprising one, and could indicate the Raiders are more interested in stabilizing the franchise and laying the groundwork for future success compared to shooting for the stars by trading up the draft board," Dajani wrote.

"While he likely doesn't have many years left, Stafford is still a quarterback that would immediately improve any offense, and it would be pretty sweet to see him team up with another University of Georgia legend in Brock Bowers."

At this point in his career, Stafford likely wouldn't cost much in a trade and would immediately make the Raiders one of the most interesting teams in the NFL this season.
