Raiders Announce Big Brock Bowers News After Record-Breaking Rookie Season - suong

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers had a rookie season for the record books, and now he’s being recognized accordingly.

Bowers, the No. 13 overall pick out of Georgia in the 2024 NFL draft, ranked third in the NFL in receptions (112), fourth in yards after the catch (596), sixth in targets (153) and first down (61), and eighth in receiving yards (1,194). He also led the Raiders in every major statistical category.

The 22-year-old old also broke several NFL records along the way including most receptions by a rookie, most receptions by a rookie tight end, and most receiving yards by a rookie tight end.

Bowers also broke Amari Cooper’s record for most receiving yards by a Raiders rookie and Darren Waller’s franchise record for most single-season receptions.

He also just missed out on a few historical tight end records. Bowers was just five receptions shy of breaking Zach Ertz’s single-season receptions record, 223 yards away from breaking Travis Kelce’s single-season receiving yards record and three yards away from breaking Waller’s single-season franchise record for receiving yards.

Bowers’ record-breaking rookie season earned him a First Team All-Pro selection by the Associated Press, and on Thursday the Raiders announced Bowers had also been named a finalist for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

If Bowers were to win, he would become the first tight end to win the award since its inception in 1967.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has his team playing in the NFC championship game this weekend, is the favorite to win but Bowers has the second-best odds according to three of the top sportsbooks including DraftKings (+2200), FanDuel (+2500) and BetMGM (+3000).

The winner of the award will be announced during NFL Honors on Feb. 6 in New Orleans.
