The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Jonathan Gruden to a two-year contract extension, Penguins' GM Kyle Dubas announced Monday.
The deal will see Gruden make $775,000 at the NHL level in both 2024-25 and 2025-26 but it differs at the AHL level.
If he is playing in the AHL, Gruden will make $150,000 in 2024-25 and $250,000 in 2025-26.
A native of Rochester, MI., Gruden just wrapped up his fourth full season with the Penguins organization. Having split this past season between the AHL and NHL, Gruden got into 13 games with Pittsburgh where he notched a goal.
In 47 regular season games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Gruden scored 13 goals and added 11 assists for 24 points. He also appeared in two playoff games but was held pointless.
A 2018 fourth-round pick of the Ottawa Senators, Gruden was dealt to the Penguins in the deal that saw Matt Murray head to the Senators.
Prior to turning pro, Gruden spent one year in the NCAA with Miami and one season in the OHL with the London Knights.
As Pittsburgh hopes to get back into the playoffs next season, Gruden could be a solid depth piece for the team.
