Melissa Gorga is launching a sprinkle cookie years after her cookie feud with Teresa Giudice aired on season three of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Over 13 years after Melissa, 45, brought sprinkle cookies to the home of her now-estranged sister-in-law, Teresa, 52, who proceeded to toss them in the trash, declaring that she preferred pignoli cookies, Melissa has announced her latest business venture, Sprinkle by MG, along with a nod to their past spat.
“Introducing Sprinkle by MG!” Melissa wrote on Instagram on December 9, along with a series of promotional photos of her new brand. “My passion for sprinkle cookies is finally available for you! With [Sprinkle by MG] The ultimate sprinkle butter cookie that’s as chic as it is delicious! Trust me… you will NOT want to throw these in the garbage.”
“Don’t miss out—order now and make your celebrations even sweeter! Head to www.sprinklebymg.com and grab yours in time for the Holidays,” she added.
Also on Monday, Melissa opened up about her new business.
“Everyone knows sprinkle cookies are my absolute favorite,” Melissa told Us Weekly on December 9. “We had that iconic scene [on RHONJ] and I’ve always wanted to come out with my own — it’s been a long time coming.”
“Everywhere I go, people give me sprinkle cookies, [whether] it was at book signings or when they come to Envy,” she continued. “When we go to [Dolores Catania]’s ‘Battle for Brooklyn’ baseball] games, everyone holds up ‘Team Sprinkle’ [signs].”
According to Melissa, her new cookie company has been a long time coming. In fact, just finding the right baker took her almost two years.
“It was all about having an amazing tasting cookie that will make people [say], ‘That was the best butter cookie I’ve ever had, and I’m going to get it again,’” she explained. “So, there’s been a lot of work, and back and forth, [to] creating the perfect cookie — and we definitely have it now.”
In addition to a line of cookies, Melissa wants to expand her business to include a sprinkle cake and sprinkle cookie crumb cake.
She’s also offering customized orders.
“We’re going to have a variety of colors, so if you want to bring the sprinkle cookies to a baby shower, there will be pink and blue [options],” she stated.
As for husband Joe Gorga‘s reaction, Melissa admitted he’s been a tough critic.
“Obviously he’s been eating Italian pastries his whole life, so he’s picky,” she shared. “He loves them and is also [asking], ‘What took you so long?’”
After Melissa announced her new project on Instagram, Joe, 50, and her RHONJ castmates, Danielle Cabral, 39, and Rachel Fuda, 33, weighed in.
“Honey, you [outdid] yourself this time! The best ones I ever had! It’s about time,” Joe proclaimed.
“Omg! Geniussssssss. My girl,” wrote Danielle.
“Yessssss!!!!” added Rachel.
But not everyone was supportive of the idea.
“Everything you do is about Teresa. It’s weird,” one person wrote.
“Are you kidding me??!!!” another asked.
Then, after a third applauded Melissa for “turning a diss into a business” and Melissa’s daughter, Antonia Gorga, 18, said the cookies are “actually good,” someone else suggested Teresa deserved a percentage of her earnings.
“I can not!!! Make sure you pay Teresa her cut,” they wrote.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on hiatus ahead of its 15th season.
