Christina Haack defended HGTV against claims made by her soon-to-be ex-husband, Josh Hall, on his Instagram Story.
Following the sharing of a sneak peek at The Flip Off, their new competition series with Christina’s ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, 43, and his new wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, 37, Josh, 44, accused the network of “manufactured drama” as Christina, 41, fought back, slamming him for his rude behavior as she shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself crying.
“This is a competition. We gotta pull out all the stops. Whatever it takes to win, I’ll do it,” Josh declared in the sneak peek shared by HGTV on Instagram as they drove together in their car. “Hall’s rule.”
Then, when Christina didn’t respond, Josh became visibly upset.
“You’re supposed to say it with me or repeat it or something that shows that you’re with me. Remember, you’re a Hall now. Don’t get confused in this competition about what your last name is,” he told her. “You’re rude.”
“I don’t overtalk,” she replied.
Josh then admitted to wishing Christina would “shut up already” as he complained that she was “pissing [him] off.”
Once Christina arrived to their destination, she was met by Tarek, who took note of her solemn demeanor.
“I know that look. What’s going on? You good?” he asked.
“No. Josh and I officially split up,” Christina confirmed.
Following the sharing of the preview, Josh posted a screenshot of an article about the promo and their “tense fight” on his Instagram Story.
“[That feeling when] you can’t get enough ratings with celebrity designers, so you rely on manufactured drama with me, a nobody,” he wrote. “[HGTV], you’ve changed.”
Hours later, Christina clapped back at Josh’s suggestion, asking, “Manufactured?! Pretty sure no one at HGTV told you to be rude to me … That was all natural.”
She then shared a second post to her Story, which featured her crying on June 21, just weeks before she and Josh filed for divorce.
“This was taken June 21, 2024. After one of my shoots with Josh. This is ‘real’ and a reminder to myself that I deserve better,” she captioned the emotional pic.
Also responding to the sharing of the dramatic sneak peek was Heather, who took to the comments section of HGTV’s post and wrote, “Not everyone makes the cut—and that’s the real reality.”
The Flip Off premieres on Wednesday, January 29, at 8/7c on HGTV.
