Phew!’ — Halle Berry, 59, savagely responds to ex-husband David Justice’s ‘not motherly’ comments with cheeky Instagram caption — as she stuns in a gold bikini on tropical birthday getaway and fans blast his ‘housewife’ expectations - suong

Halle Berry clapped back at her ex David Justice on Thursday.

She was getting her say after the 59-year-old baseball star slammed her for not cooking or cleaning when they were wed in the 1990s.

In her new Instagram post she added the caption, 'Phew…! cooking, cleaning and mothering.'

The star was celebrating her 59th birthday in the tropics as she posed in a skimpy gold string bikini by Monday Swimwear. The former Bond girl looked sensational with a small waistline, lean legs and sculpted arms.

The looker, who added silver-framed sunglasses that matched her two silver necklaces, was also with her boyfriend Van Hunt as they cuddled while in their seaside hut.

And she shared a look at a letter one of her two children gave to her during the summer break abroad.

Julianne Moore wrote, 'Happy birthday beautiful,' while Berry's Catwoman costar hit the like button.

Justice was trying to explain why he 'decided to leave' her after being married in the nineties.

Berry was wed to David Justice for four years, from 1993 to 1997.

Justice, a former baseball outfielder, said that he ended their marriage because she was not as 'motherly' as he had expected.

The MLB star said on the All the Smoke podcast with co-host Matt Barnes while reflecting on how his private life became highly publicized because of his past romance with the Catwoman star.

On the recent podcast episode, he admitted that he used to think: 'If we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with? And at that time, as a young guy, she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem, like, motherly.'

He said that eventually he 'realized this isn't the person I wanted to spend my life with' but added that he later began to understand that the marriage could have been saved if he 'knew about therapy.'

However, his comments still sparked outrage as Berry's fans appeared to be appalled that he once wanted her to take on a stereotypical housewife role amid her busy acting job as her career in entertainment was taking off at the time.

'It's just that I, because I was young, had only been in honestly one real relationship before her. My knowledge and my understanding and my wisdom around relationships just wasn't vast.'

Many fans slammed Justice, a three-time MLB All-Star and two-time World Series winner who played with the Atlanta Braves and the New York Yankees during his 14 seasons in the league, for the 'audacity' of wanting the Oscar-winning actress to 'cook and clean.'

'Motherly? She was his partner, not his mom,' one social media user wrote on X as a slew of fans came to Berry's defense when Justice's comments went viral online.

'Imagine expecting Halle Berry, the first Black actress to earn $20m for a movie, the #1 most desirable woman in the world for decades, the first Black woman to win an Oscar, to stay home to cook and clean. Men and audacity,' another person tweeted.

'David Justice tryna make HALLE BERRY cook & clean is CRAZY work. TF was he thinkin,' a fan added alongside a GIF expressing their dismay.

'Halle Berry, a household name, was supposed to take time away from her breadwinning career to 'cook and clean' for a man I've never heard of?! LMAOOOO!

'According to their net worths, he needed to be the one throwing the apron on and cleaning the house too,' one person wrote about the MLB star and the famed actress.

Another person tweeted: 'David really expected THEE Halle Berry in her prime to be a stay at home housewife. Talk about an all-time fumble for Mr. Justice.'

One person tweeted a laughing emoji and wrote: 'David Justice dead a** married Halle Berry and wanted her to fold clothes. Catwoman pushing a vacuum?'

Another fan tweeted: 'David's Justice comment about Halle Berry says more about his preferences than her worth. Plenty of great moms don't fit the "cook, clean, motherly" stereotype. Sometimes it's just a mismatch, not a measure of value.'

At the time of publication, Berry has not yet responded to his public comments from the recent podcast appearance.

In the same episode, Justice also said that he was upset with his ex-wife for not clarifying that he was not the ex she had that once physically abused her.

He also conceded that he deeply hurt her by leaving her suddenly rather than 'massaging' it or seeking 'therapy' in an attempt to mend their relationship.

Back in 1996, Berry told People that she had an abusive, unnamed ex, who once struck her in the head and ended up puncturing her eardrum, causing her to suffer from hearing loss.

'She let the world think it was me,' Justice said in the podcast episode. 'I thought she was dead wrong for that.'

He later added about their marriage, reflecting on their split decades later: 'I look back on that situation, and I'm like, that girl really did love me.'

'And I can see why she would be so mad at me. Because imagine if you really love somebody and they tell you they want to break up, and there's nothing you can say to get them back. That had to have been tough on her.

'I didn't ease out,' he added before explaining that he was just 'gone' and 'could have massaged that better.'

Justice has been married to wife Rebecca Justice for 24 years and shares two children with her; meanwhile, Berry has been in a long-term relationship with Van Hunt for five years.

She was previously married to Oliver Martinez from 2013 to 2016 and also to her first husband Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005.

She is a mother to two children — daughter Nahla, 17, whose dad is Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo, 11, with Martinez.
