New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette is facing some major backlash once again after making another controversial decision ahead of their game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Following the New York Rangers practice this morning, it was revealed who will be a healthy scratch for tonight's game and fans are not happy with Laviolette's decision.
After the Rangers performance against the Tampa Bay Lightning, many were expecting to see some changes in the lineup tonight. However, the one Lavy made was not the one fans were hoping for as top prospect Gabe Perreault will be sidelined.
#NYR head coach Peter Laviolette confirms Brett Berard is coming in for Gabe Perreault
Since Gabe Perreault joined the New York Rangers on his entry-level contract, he has only played three games, while not managing to tally any points during those three games, he has been a very solid addition to the lineup.
So the choice of making him a healthly scratch over has made some fans furious with Laviolette.
As the New York Rangers continue to face serious struggles all season, their playoffs hopes have slipped away, as they now trail eight-points behind the Montreal Canadiens for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
So not letting the 19-year old play in the teams one of their final five games, just doesn't make sense, as this is crucial time for his game to develop for the next season.
Gabe Perreault replacement was just confirmed
According to reports, it has been confirmed that forward Brett Berard will be slotting back into the lineup to fill Gabe Perreault's spot.
Lavi said lines will be the same, with Berard taking Perreault's spot with Kreider and Carrick. #NYR
