The New England Patriots are known to be in the market for a true No. 1 wide receiver to pair with Drake Maye.
Among the options floated in trade talks included DK Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks.
While it was uncertain if Metcalf would be moved, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Wednesday afternoon that the star has requested a trade from Seattle.
"#Seahawks star WR DK Metcalf has requested a trade from Seattle and the team has decided to explore it, per me and @TomPelissero. There is likely to be significant interest in the Seattle star, and both sides will dig into it. A big-time WR who may be on the move," Rapoport wrote.
The Seahawks could look to move Metcalf in an effort to improve in other areas. The Patriots have the assets to move, and he's the type of player to send picks out for.

With Maye proving that he's a franchise quarterback last season, the Patriots would be wise to give up a decent haul for the physical receiver.
There will be other teams interested, meaning New England will have to be smart with what it offers.
If the Patriots want him, look for them to get a deal done.
It makes too much sense.
