Over the last few weeks, the New England Patriots have been talked about non-stop as a team looking to make a wide receiver splash.
They have been connected often to Tee Higgins. Chris Godwin has been another name that has come up. However, the hype has shifted to a potential trade for Seattle Seahawks star wideout DK Metcalf.
Metcalf has officially requested a trade from the Seahawks. There is no guarantee that Seattle will end up moving him, but they're open to dealing him for the right price.
At this point in time, the Patriots are emerging as the front-runner to end up acquiring him.
NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah made an appearance on the "Pat McAfee Show" today and mentioned that everyone expects Metcalf to land in New England.
"Everybody in the league thinks that DK Metcalf is going to New England," Jeremiah said. "They have all the money and they need a weapon."
Landing Metcalf would be a huge win for the Patriots. Drake Maye needs more help and the Seahawks' 27-year-old star would be exactly the kind of move New England has been wanting to make.
During the 2024 NFL season, Metcalf had a bit of a down year. However, no one is worried about whether or not he will bounce back strong in 2025.
In 15 games last year, Metcalf caught 66 passes for 992 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers as they were would be a major upgrade for the Patriots.
There are quite a few teams around the NFL who would love to acquire Metcalf, but for now New England is viewed as the favorite.
