Will the New York Rangers pursue Patrick Kane this summer?

Kane had a short-stint with the Rangers during the 2022-23 after being traded to New York From the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 35-year-old forward is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason and he reportedly could be interested in a reunion with the Rangers.

“He felt like when he got to New York and was hurt that he tried to do his best but that he sort of disappointed them,” Frank Seravelli said. “They didn’t say that but he felt like he left something on the table because he wasn’t at full strength and I think wanted a chance to try and do that over again to make it right.”

In 19 games with the Rangers, Kane had five goals, seven assists and 12 points while averaging 17:29 minutes of ice time.

Kane was hindered with a hip injury, which caused him to undergo hip resurfacing surgery, sidelining the veteran forward for a large chunk of last season.

He ultimately signed and found a home with the Detroit Red Wings where he thrived. In 50 games, Kane tallied 20 goals, 27 assists and 47 points.

While not being the same superstar player he once was, Kane is still productive and would provide depth for the Rangers offensively.

He still shows flashes of his incredible talent, so it would be exciting to see him back in New York playing for the Blueshirts.
