After sizing up the debonair men, the Housewives were instructed to choose one lucky suitor for custom one-on-one dates. 

Gizelle chose Jay, a 46-year-old father and marketing director from Boston, Massachusetts. The pair hit the Agave Tasting Room to sample some tequila and $25,000 caviar and lobster-filled tacos. 

But the meal may have been more memorable than the date for Gizelle, who admitted the even-tempered Jay was “just not turning on the juices for Gizelle to feel like this is it” and was maybe a little “boring.”

Meanwhile, Shannon headed to a cheese and wine tasting with Earl, a 59-year-old legal consultant from Lawrenceville, Georgia still grieving the death of his second wife. 

Aside from a brief stumble where Earl thought he was meant to eat a decorative bowl of dried beans, the two seemed to hit it off, even holding hands at one point. What Earl may have lacked in sophistication, he made up for with heart.

“I want to say cheers to you,” Shannon told him, before she opened up about her troubles over the last year. “I really appreciate you coming here and making yourself vulnerable. That meant a lot to me.”  

Luann met her date, Gerry, a 57-year-old retired carpenter turned surfer, on a clamshell bed by the ocean for a Little Mermaid-esque style date, complete with oysters and champagne. 

“Luann she has this power, this beauty,” Gerry remarked in the episode of what drew him to the former countess.  “She’s from New York. I spent 33 years in New York.”

But always on-the-move Luann wasn’t sure she had much in common with the relaxed surfer, who spent most of his days at the beach while living in Puerto Rico.

It was perhaps Ashley and her date Wale, a 38-year-old IT director from Providence, Rhode Island, who hit it off the best in their cacao and chocolate making class. 

“The date is cool, like first of all Ashley, she had this dress with like flowers on it. Her body was bodying,” Wale remarked. “That’s when I knew I was like I don’t really want to be like Ashley’s friend no more.”

After dining on oysters and champagne, Gerry and Luann took a stroll down the beach hand in hand. Just after Gerry declared that it was the “perfect date” the pair moved in for a tiny peck — but Luann clearly wasn’t feeling it.

“After this kiss, I don’t really feel the chemistry so you know, I think the oysters aphrodisiacs thing is an old wives tale,” Luann later confessed. “I’m not sure Gerry’s quite right for me.” 

They took a few more steps before Luann abruptly stopped and then declared, “Ok, I’m done” and turned around.

Once the dates wrapped up, the couples rejoined the rest of the group and Nicholas, a 45-year-old crypto entrepreneur from Scottsdale, Arizona, made his play for Ashley after describing their early connection. 

“I would hate for it to just end at that and I would love to take you on one of these spectacular dates,” he told her. “Hopefully, I get that opportunity.” 

Ashley admitted to producers that Nicholas was in the “sweet spot” for her age-wise and she was “intrigued” by him, but it was Wale who ended up making a lasting impression.

He asked to walk her back to her room as there was a clear spark between them.

“As we’re walking up to my room, I just know this is it,” Ashley said in her confessional. “Wale’s probably licking his lips, checking his breath, teeing it all up, because he’s definitely going to plant a smooch on me.” 

But when they got to the door, Wale lost his nerve and just gave a surprised Ashley a goodnight hug instead. He immediately regretted the move, chastising himself for being “so stupid” as he walked away.

“Yeah, I fumbled, like I really didn’t kiss Ashley and I don’t know why,” he admitted in his own confessional. “I just froze up, like, this is your moment.” 

A few moments later, cameras captured Wale returning to knock on her door.

“I wanted to give you a proper goodbye. Is that ok?” he asked before the two exchanged some heated kisses.

“Ok, that was very nice,” Ashley told him.  “What a nice surprise. Thanks.”

Wale walked away once again, this time leaving Ashley with some steamy memories. 

“Wow,” she gushed in her confessional. “Love Hotel is love hoteling, baby!”
