Offer On The Table: New York Rangers closing in on contract extension with 24-year old defenseman

The Chris Kreider trade has opened up possibilities for larger moves for the Rangers. With $6.5 million in additional cap space, it looks like GM Chris Drury is prioritizing one of his RFAs, Zac Jones. According to Mollie Walker, there has been an offer tendered to the LHD.Zac Jones

The New York Rangers have immediately begun working on signing their free agents after moving Chris Kreider out West to Anaheim this week.
GM Chris Drury is tendering an offer to a surprising left-handed defenseman, Zac Jones. Jones was a scratch for a significant amount of time this season, and it could be part of why Laviolette was fired.
Either way, the Rangers are putting their full faith into Zac Jones, as the New York Post's Mollie Walker has reported they're sending him an offer.

Jones's last deal paid him an AAV of $812K over the last two years, and his time in New York has been chaotic, more or less. He's jumped up and down from the AHL to the NHL, and has had his time on ice cut to make room for other players.
«It (expletive) sucks, it (expletive) sucks,» Jones told Larry Brooks of the New York Post in January. «It's frustrating when you think you're doing some things well, and it's just, you just keep getting taken out, taken out, taken out. I just feel like I'm rotting away a little bit.»

He's shown some promise during his time on the ice, but was pushed out of the lineup due to multiple acquisitions (Will Borgen and Urho Vaakanainen) during the year.
Jones posted a total of 11 points (1-10) in 46 games played this season with the Rangers.
It appears his frustrations may be short-term, as he could be a piece in the New York Rangers' future.
Will he sign on the dotted line?
