There’s been so many chaotic twists and turns on this year’s Love Island that we almost forgot that villa queen Yasmin Pettet, who is currently loved-up with Jamie Rhodes, was once in a couple with Ben Holbrough.
The only thing that’s stopped us from relegating it to the back of our minds forever is that furious row they had when they called time on their romance (if you can call it that) for good.
Some viewers branded Ben ‘immature’ and ‘disgusting’ after he told Yasmin, ‘No man wants you in here,’ and called her ‘irrelevant’, with Ofcom receiving over 1000 complaints about ‘bullying and misogynistic behaviour’. However, Ben has insisted he has no regrets over the controversial feud.
Chatting exclusively to Closer alongside Andrada Pop, the taxi driver turned reality star explained, ‘Nah, I don’t ever live life with regret. It was a massive lesson for me, more than anything. Trust me, I’m the first person to know that I shouldn’t have spoke to her like that.
‘Like I said, it wasn’t actually until you can physically watch it back because in the moment it’s the heat of the moment and you’re just saying things. It’s not until you take a step back that you can actually look at how you spoke and how you went about it that you can be like, “No, that’s wrong. You should not be doing that.”'
‘I should not have done it and it’s not nice on her but for myself, I needed to see that to understand I can’t be like that. I’ve grown massively from that and it’s been a big lesson for me. No bigger stage to learn that Love Island.’
Having been coupled up with Shea Mannings, Ben, Giorgio Russo and Conor Phillips, Yasmin initially struggled to find a lasting connection in the villa but that all changed during Casa Amor when she recoupled with Jamie.
